We edify economic, relational, and spiritual prosperity by cultivating career and community leadership.

About us

Good Works Collective offers a free 6-month career and community development program aiming to abolish spiritual, economic, and relational poverty in Houston and beyond. We recruit and select neighbors--called Leaders--ready to do whatever it takes to attain financial self-sufficiency. We then provide Leaders with personal and professional training, build a supportive community around each one, and help place the Leader on a career path that pays $19/hour or more.

  • Kimba and LaToya are one step closer to their goal of driving Over-the-Road team loads. This husband and wife team landed with us in the spring cohort shortly after relocating from Mississippi. Their many hours of CDL permit preparation, pre-trip, in cab and maneuvers have paid off with their Class A CDLs. During the Good Works Collective journey, people are able to find meaningful work that pays well and sets them up to live enriched lives. S&R Truck Driving Institute is a non-profit CDL School in Houston who we have partnered with in our mission to empower our Leaders to realize their God given potential. Kimba and LaToya have truly been a joy to work with!

  • This week we hosted NCTC for a fiber optic splicing training course. One of our Leaders, William Bouldin completed the course and obtained his CFOT – Certified Fiber Optic Technician certificate. He is ready to go to work as an entry level splicing technician. “I’m so happy I could just skip down the hall.” For our next cohort starting in February of 2025, we can have up to 6 Leaders participate in this training. Strip, clean and cleave! Special thanks to Eugene Morales for making this training happen for us and we look forward to continuing this partnership.

Last week 12 of our Leaders and staff at Good Works Collective had the opportunity to tour the Sterile Processing facility at Memorial Hermann, Texas Medical Center. Sterile Processing is a fast paced, highly technical career that pays well and has plenty of opportunity for personal and professional growth. Thank you to Jacob Sweeney for connecting us with Hank Balch and Bobby Parker at Beyond Clean, and to Dusty Glass at Memorial Hermann for his generosity in giving us the tour. It was amazing to get to see such a large team of professionals at Memorial Hermann working both seamlessly and tirelessly to deliver clean surgical equipment back to the OR each day. One of the Leaders present had been life flighted to that very hospital in 2018 after a car accident and was able to thank Dusty in person. We are looking forward to some of our Leaders launching into this career in the coming weeks!

  • Thank you to Jimmy Vitulli, owner of Kainos Roofing & Exteriors, for sharing with us today on some simple methods for improving emotional intelligence. In the workshop, Jimmy drew concepts from Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. Although we may not find ourselves in “big deal” negotiations in our everyday jobs, we actually take part in 3-7 negotiations each day with our kids, spouses, co-workers and customers. Jimmy has used this material to transform entry level employees with no sales experience to sales professionals who deliver excellent results to their customers and company. Please reach out directly if you have a topic you are passionate about teaching that would complement our Personal Development class.
