Support improvements to child care environments that foster healthy eating, physical activity, and overall development.

About us

As a team of researchers and public health professionals, we know that early childhood is our best chance to not only prevent many health problems, but also to tackle current health disparities. Habits are formed during these early years, including those around food, physical activity, and other health behaviors. In our aim to improve the health of young children across the nation we recognize the importance of engaging the early care and education (ECE) community, as these programs provide a foundation for healthy child development. Go NAPSACC works with ECE programs to improve the health of young children through practices, policies, and environments that instill habits supporting lifelong health and well-being. We offer modules on key topics like healthy eating, physical activity, and oral health. As of August 2021, 6,270 child care programs serving over 307,000 children have used Go NAPSACC. Go NAPSACC is designed with the early childhood educator in mind. The flexible program allows providers to focus on any of seven modules. Go NAPSACC's 5-step improvement process helps educators prioritize, plan, and take action to make healthy changes. Although educators can use Go NAPSACC on their own, there is no match for the expert, personalized support from a technical assistance (TA) consultant. Go NAPSACC offers online tools for consultants that make it easier than ever to connect with educators, coach them through the 5 steps of Go NAPSACC, and track progress and success.

Thank you all for the incredible insights and guidance you’ve provided. Also, a special thanks to those completing their terms, whose contributions have been outstanding. • Thank you to the Ward Memorial Fund’s wonderful and generous donors for their contributions this past #GivingTuesday!  If you weren't able to participate, it's not too late to make a difference. The Community Health & Wellness Resource Team has raised $1,925 so far—nearly double our original goal—and we're just $75 away from our $2,000 target.  There’s still time for year-end giving, and as we near our final goal, we would be deeply appreciative of any additional contributions to help us not only meet but exceed our target. Every dollar you give supports our ongoing efforts and strengthens the foundation for the important work we do. • While we often think of suspension and expulsion as a punishment for older children, preschool aged children are expelled at a rate three times higher than high schoolers. Suspension, expulsion, and even temporarily removing a child from the classroom, have negative effects on children. Read Go NAPSACC's December Digging Deeper article to learn about the effects of suspension and expulsion and how ECE programs can work with staff to manage behaviors and prevent suspension and expulsion. https://lnkd.in/dPdWwz-S

  • Thanks to our wonderful and generous donors, we’ve already reached our #GivingTuesday goal—before Giving Tuesday even arrives! But we’re not stopping here. With Giving Tuesday less than one week away, we’re raising our goal to help the Ward Memorial Fund make an even bigger impact. The Ward Memorial Fund supports project and professional development opportunities for early care and education professionals, students, and researchers. Rooted in the empowerment of aspiring researchers and ECE professionals who share a commitment to nurturing and enriching young minds, the Ward Memorial Fund exemplifies our founder, Dr. Dianne S. Ward’s visionary spirit. Make a gift to the Ward Memorial Fund to help us reach our goal and support opportunities for current and future ECE workers and public health researchers! https://lnkd.in/erFFrWKH
