We’re so excited to share that Acción Andina has successfully reforested 150,000 native trees in just ONE DAY in Aquia, Peru, marking a huge milestone in our mission to restore high-Andean ecosystems! This record-setting event was made possible by the collaboration of local residents, Indigenous communities, and regional authorities, all working together to restore one of the most vital ecosystems on Earth. 🌍 Learn more about this incredible achievement and how we’re empowering communities and protecting water resources in the Andes. As we reflect on the urgent conversations happening at #COP16 about combating desertification and the escalating global water crisis, one thing is clear: restoring land and ecosystems is not just about environmental recovery—it’s about securing our future. (https://lnkd.in/d5_DbREN) Climate change continues to threaten our ecosystems, water resources, and food security, making land restoration more critical than ever before. A recent study from Stanford highlights how reforestation and sustainable irrigation practices can help tackle these issues, showing that protecting and restoring nature is one of the most effective solutions. (https://lnkd.in/euGey9Qr) At Global Forest Generation, we recognize that restoring degraded ecosystems—especially in high-altitude regions like the Andes—is key to solving this water-energy-food nexus. We are committed to using nature-based solutions to fight climate change and support communities. Our initiative Acción Andina (co-managed with ECOAN) is a prime example of how reforestation and collaboration with local communities can protect water supplies, improve agriculture, and enhance biodiversity. For instance, in the Peruvian Andes, 150,000 native trees were planted in one day, bringing us even closer to our goal of restoring high-altitude forests. (https://lnkd.in/eicfYqEf) This isn't just about trees—it's about building a stronger, interconnected world that prioritizes both people and the planet. As climate impacts intensify, the time for action is now. Supporting reforestation and sustainable land management efforts globally is one of the most impactful ways we can address climate change, safeguard our water resources, and protect the biodiversity that sustains life on Earth. Let's keep the momentum going and work together to restore what has been lost—because the future of our planet depends on it. Consider giving back to Global Forest Generation today and help us continue this important work. #Restoration #SustainableLandManagement #Reforestation #ClimateAction #WaterSecurity #Biodiversity #GlobalForestGeneration #Biodiversity #Sustainability

Why is biodiversity a priority for landscape restoration projects? Given the lack of attention scheduled to be directed towards biodiversity at COP29, we are focusing the spotlight on why biodiversity is a fundamental part of the landscape restoration projects we support and the wider climate change discussion. Our latest webinar in the Business for Biodiversity campaign brings together a panel of our partners and experts in this field to discuss the importance of designing restoration projects so that they protect and enhance biodiversity, and how this brings increased benefits for the climate, local communities and the businesses funding them. We are very excited to welcome our partners to this discussion: 🌳 David Bircher from WeForest 🌳 Constantino Aucca from Asociación Ecosistemas Andinos - ECOAN and Acción Andina 🌳 Florent Kaiser from Global Forest Generation and Acción Andina 🌳 Lindsay Mackinlay from The Future Forest Company 🌳 Charli Adamson from Ecologi | B Corp™ The panel will be chaired by Katie Pownall, featured in this image visiting the Acción Andina project in Peru earlier this year. Here is a wonderful video bringing that project to life, which will no doubt be discussed as part of this talk - https://lnkd.in/eHfBDKKT You can sign up the webinar below. 📅 Date: 21st November 2024 🕐 Time: 13:30 pm (GMT) 🔗 Register now: https://lnkd.in/eE4hgyxh #Reforestation #NatureRestoration #Biodiversity
