We were delighted to see so many familiar faces at our C-Suite Connector event, held this year at the ever-trendy Beverly Theater during Vegas Cannabis Week! Our 2024 theme was Global Cannabis Stories; which gave us an opportunity to shine a light on some of the key issues impacting cannabis in a 15 minute movie showcase – the good, the bad, and the quirky. From indigenous rights to Icelandic hemp cultivation; through to tackling stigma and social equity; we wanted to show that there’s so much good happening in the cannabis industry – here in the US and beyond. As much as North America looks to the rest of the world for scalable opportunities in cannabis, the rest of the world looks to the US and Canada for guidance and inspiration on how to run a cannabusiness in often heavily-restricted, tightly-regulated marketplaces. Recovered yet? (!) The whirlwind that is Vegas Cannabis Week never fails to impress, overwhelm, and invigorate; no matter whether it’s your first or tenth visit. But honestly, for the Global Cannabis Network Collective, it’s not about who has the biggest stand, the flyest brand, or the most accolades – though we were of course delighted to see TSRgrow, PufCreativ, and Boveda Inc. take home much deserved awards for their excellent work! For us, Vegas Cannabis Week is all about making connections. Global connections. 2024 has been a landmark year for the worldwide cannabis community. While MJBizCon has traditionally been a North American show, the number of international attendees continues to grow; or at least it felt that way at this year’s events (plural). And – as we all know – outside of the main conference itself is where the real connections are made. For those who are interested in the ongoing discussion around cannabis rescheduling, here is the information to be able to track next week's DEA Rescheduling hearing. The judge has stated this is primarily a "status" conference with 22 stated participants. Should be interesting but it will not be an "end" to this discussion. Consider this a necessary next step to keep the conversation moving forward.
