GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik joined Bloomberg News’s #podcast and discussed the surge in electricity demand, how GE Vernova is well-positioned to support #hyperscaler growth and how we’re using #AI to grow and improve our business. “A lot of the investor focus for us right now is how much more power generation demand there is because of the need for more electricity to support the AI growth,” Strazik said. “AI itself is going to play an important role on driving our businesses and the whole grid system to be more productive.” Listen here to learn more about the innovations defining the future of energy: https://vernova.is/3Zl5NUI. #FutureOfEnergy #BloombergPodcast #IndustryInsights #Innovation #TechTrends

Dennis Henneke has always had a gift in mathematics and engineering. It’s what helped him become one of 114 Americans to achieve engineering’s highest honor by the National Academy of Engineering. A consulting engineer in risk assessment and reliability for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Henneke plays a crucial role in #nuclear safety in an unpredictable world. “I’ve just always loved the mathematics and pure science of nuclear engineering,” says Henneke, who received the ANS Theos J. “Tommy” Thompson Award for outstanding lifetime contributions to the field of nuclear reactor safety in February. His skill in mathematics dates back to his childhood. In high school, he was a fierce, speedy competitor in math competitions. At the University of Florida, his master’s thesis executed a mathematical modeling of the university’s training reactor core using what was then a breakthrough technology: the personal computer. Now, at 65, Henneke plans to transition to a half-time role at GE Hitachi Energy. Over the last several years, he has mentored the next generation of engineers and is confident that he’s leaving the efforts to evaluate advanced reactor risk assessment in great hands. Recently at #DMC2024, Office of Naval Research Code 332 Program Officer Jeff Farren demonstrated a prototype tool that has the potential to significantly decrease the time it takes to perform internal pipe blending operations. #GEVernova's #AdvancedResearch robotics lab is developing this novel #technology. Scheduled for 2025 delivery, the tool will allow operators to see and grind down internal pipe welds by guiding via an external magnet. This project supports the US Navy's mission to increase velocity of submarine production and operational availability. The project is supported and led by US Navy Department of Defense Manufacturing Technology Program, General Dynamics Electric Boat, and ATI | Advanced Technology International / CNM | Center for Naval Metalworking. #Robotics #Innovation #Manufacturing Pictured from left to right: Raju Venkataramana, Maksim Vasilchenko, Jeff Farren; Jeremy Brougher, George Hinerman, John Michael Iraci, PE, Brad Pantuck.
