So, what do they do? ✨ 🎄 Spreading Holiday Cheer for Decades🎄✨ Meeting for the first time in 1962, the “Women of Georgia Power” was organized with the purpose of giving back to our community and embodying Georgia Power’s motto of being A Citizen Wherever We Serve 🤝. This spirit of volunteerism has been at the heart of their work, and the group has long supported local causes—such as their annual Christmas Doll Drive🎁 – shown in this archival photo from 1965. Today, the group is known as Citizens of Georgia Power, and they continue to carry out this legacy of service 🌟. Year-round, our Citizens groups dedicate their time to volunteering, donating gifts and groceries, and supporting those in need. In the spirit of the season, this year our Citizens went above and beyond, volunteering with the Empty Stocking Fund🎅 and gathering gifts for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree🎄🎁. We are honored to have the opportunity to spread Holiday Cheer across the state!

A live look 👀 From The Bucket ⚡️ Today our crews worked on grid projects and line work across the state. Pictured here, our Stonecrest crews are installing a Trip Saver and changed out a pole, our Atlanta crews are working in the buckets, and our Network Underground crews are putting in new cable. 🔋 We are proud to power Georgia!🔌⚡️

Members of our line teams joined hundreds of other workers and community members this week to honor the life of Eric Weems – a Griffin linemen who passed away tragically earlier this month. Being a part of the service was an important, and emotional, moment for our Jonesboro line crew- but they stated that “it was an honor to do what we could for him.” Georgia Power Lineman Jose noted that the experience reminded him that, “when we navigate through challenges, we want to make sure that we impact those around us in a positive manner.” While the crew member who passed was not a part of the Georgia Power crew, he was still a “brother in the industry” Jose said, making it an emotional moment that the crew was honored to be a part of. We asked Jose and his apprentice Frank how being a part of the service made them feel. They both stressed that this is a reminder to be “your brother’s keeper” and that “safety should never stop.” Frank, a UAL 2, noted that his training taught him to learn and follow the lead of his Journeymen crew leaders. He said, “When they work with safety first, I know that I am safe too since I am learning everything I can from them.” Our hearts, prayers, and thoughts, are with the family and friends of Eric Weems during this incredibly difficult time. And we also wish lineman Trent Granger a quick and full recovery.

Georgia Power Veterans 🤝 helping Veterans. Our crew over at Bartletts Ferry Hydro partnered with House of Heroes Chattahoochee Valley in Columbus, GA to help work on a disabled Veterans home.  They helped work on the home to make it more accessible for the family.
