Over the past months, we’ve been building and refining our platform to deliver on three transformative paths: 🌱 Professional Development We provide members with training, webinars, and curated content designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Our first e-learning course is officially complete and now being reviewed to ensure it offers the high-quality insights and strategies our members need to thrive. 💡 Inner Leadership Change begins within. That’s why we focus on helping members develop the skills of the Inner Leadership. These skills build resilience, empathy, and systems-thinking—qualities essential for leading sustainability transitions with courage and authenticity. 🤝 Global and Local Community No one drives change alone. 🌍 My Journey in Sustainability and Building a Global Community 🌱 In February 2020, just before the world changed with COVID-19, I delivered a keynote at the Sustainability Summit in Manila. My talk focused on how a unifying framework for sustainable development could help shift from tackling challenges in isolation to embracing the complexity and interconnectedness of ecological, social, and economic systems. That experience sparked an inspiring collaboration with Gem Zabala Brion (organizer) and her network, leading to online courses and mutual learning between our communities. The connections we built continue to grow, proving the power of collaboration in driving change. Last weekend, I returned to the 5th Sustainability Summit to reflect on what’s changed since my first talk—globally, professionally, and personally. It was a chance to share new insights from the international stage and explore the skills and mindsets sustainability professionals need to create faster, more meaningful change. What I’ve Learned Along the Way: 1️⃣ Education Isn’t Enough: Sustainability literacy often focuses on cognitive skills, but real-world impact requires tools for navigating complexity and resistance. 2️⃣ Experience is Key: The most effective change agents I’ve met over the years didn’t learn their skills in classrooms—they gained them through relationships, culture, and lived experiences. 3️⃣ Loneliness in the Field: Many early-career professionals feel unsupported, battling reductionist thinking in workplaces that aren’t designed for systems change. They need community, mentorship, and a clear path to growth. A Way Forward 🌟 This reflection shaped the vision behind FutureFit Collab, a global platform we’ve been building over the past six months. Our mission is to support early-career sustainability professionals with: - Practical training and mentorship to bridge the gap between knowledge and action. - A global network of peers and experts, offering support and inspiration. - Programs to accelerate growth, turning a 10-year journey into 1–2 years of focused, supported development. Young professionals are already driving the change we need. What they often lack is a safe community and shared framework to fast-track their impact. FutureFit Collab is designed to fill that gap, combining global connections with local context to create lasting change. Being part of this journey has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career, and I’m excited to share more soon.
