Attorneys nationwide should exercise extreme caution when receiving emails that appear to be from court clerks or the federal judiciary system. A widespread scam is currently targeting lawyers with fraudulent electronic filing notifications. These deceptive emails closely mimic official notices from the federal courts' Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system. However, they are actually part of a sophisticated phishing scheme designed to compromise attorneys' computer systems. To protect themselves, attorneys should: Verify all case information directly through their local federal court's official CM/ECF system before taking any action Never download attachments or click links from suspicious or unverified sources related to court cases Contact the relevant federal court to confirm the legitimacy of any questionable emails about case filings This scam has been reported across multiple jurisdictions, indicating a coordinated, large-scale attempt to target legal professionals nationwide. Attorneys must remain vigilant and prioritize cybersecurity to safeguard their practices and clients from this evolving threat.

Strategic AR Management: Preventing Write-Offs and Maximizing Collections Is your firm managing its aging AR effectively? Instituting a write-off policy for invoices beyond 365 days ensures that uncollectible AR doesn’t linger on the books. Client Account Managers should collaborate with attorneys to assess highly aged AR, while Firm Management should review AR over 180 days to prevent write-offs and client loss. For potentially collectible AR, consider a ""Gone But Not Forgotten"" (GBNF) status—keeping it on client lists and reports to sustain collection efforts. #LawFirmManagement #AccountsReceivable #FrontlineMS
