We envision ecologically, economically, and socially responsible forestry as the standard for forest management
About us
The Forest Stewards Guild's mission is to promote ecologically, economically, and socially responsible forestry as a means of sustaining the integrity of forest ecosystems and the human communities dependent upon them. We are a professional organization of forest stewards and affiliates who are passionate about sustaining and restoring the integrity of our forests while meeting the needs of the communities that rely on them. Our members’ work provides tangible examples of forestry that is ecologically, economically, and socially responsible. The common bond of Guild members is a passion for forests and land stewardship. The practice of excellent forestry, promotion of a stewardship ethic, and adherence to our membership principles are the heart and soul of the Guild. Our members practice imaginative silviculture that respects the complexity of natural forests. We value the importance of field observation, experience, science, and continuous learning. We seek opportunities to collaborate, share our knowledge, and learn from others.

Recent hurricanes Helene and Milton have accelerated the spread of invasive species, posing risks to ecosystems, agriculture, and infrastructure. The USGS Flood and Storm Tracker maps are invaluable tools for identifying areas at risk of new invasions and supporting proactive management. In 2024, millions of acres of forestland have been devastated by hurricanes, wildfires, insects, disease, flooding, tornadoes, and winter storms. The National Association of State Foresters is calling for federal disaster relief for forestland owners, who lack access to crop insurance or safety nets. This devastation threatens the ability of forests to provide clean air and water, support wildlife and rural economies, and store carbon—resources we all depend on. 🌲 #ForestResilience #SupportForests #ClimateAction #ForestStewardsGuild
