About us
Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) is a wholesale power agency owned by 33 municipal electric utilities. FMPA’s mission is to provide power that is low-cost, reliable, and affordable, as well as provide value-added services for its owner-customers. Our members serve more than 3 million Florida residents. Each FMPA member is locally owned and operated, but they work together on common needs. For example, by coordinating the power supply needs of several communities, the utilities can build larger, more efficient power plants and share operating expenses, all of which reduces the cost of electricity. FMPA has six power supply projects. We supply all or some of the power 24 of our 33 members. Some cities do not purchase power from FMPA, but utilize other services from the Agency.

Thanks to everyone on APPA's Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) Review Panel, who recently gathered in Orlando, Florida to screen the 2024 RP3 applications. We'd especially like to thank Michael McCleary from Florida Municipal Power Agency for hosting the event this year, and our former Panel Chair Aaron Haderle from Kissimmee Utility Authority for lending your expertise with grading. If your utility submitted an application, we may be in touch soon for more information to help the panel make its final scoring decisions when they reconvene at APPA's office in December. Learn more about the RP3 designation for #PublicPower utilities: publicpower.org/RP3.
