This is one of our top performing video ads. It’s directed by, and starring our dashing CEO Bentzi Elkouby. He’s in Las Vegas now and possibly still sleeping, so he’ll only see my flattering compliments later 😎 Why does the ad perform so well? It directly showcases the daily struggle of our clients. That moment of their sales pitch when they fumble the ball because their English is not tip-top. I’ll have people calling up saying “That ad with the stammering guy, that’s me.” The sale is already done. If you market well enough, you barely need to sell.

There’s a big problem in the construction industry. Foremen and site managers hire Hispanic workers for the manual labor. This is great because the employers benefit from the immigrant mindset and work ethic, and the laborers benefit from the steady income. What’s the problem? The language barrier. Good morning from Madrid! Been having a pretty crazy day. I’m enroute to Israel but the second leg of my flight was canceled and now there’s a slight chance that I’ll be stuck in Spain for Rosh Hashanah. Hopefully not though, thanks to Capital One travel protection I was able to rebook in a flight tomorrow night via Dubai. Time will tell. I’m also on a waitlist for an El Al flight just in case. I barely talk about FluenTalkTM.... ...so I think it's about time 😎 Over the last 7 months we have, thank G-d, built out our team in the most amazing way ever. Jennifer Zazon, a woman who has been with FluenTalk through thick and thin has assumed the role of training coordinator and #qualityassurance. This helps our English coaches feel they're taken care of and guided throughout their training period and beyond. We've brought on the indefatigable Jacob Friedlander as our Director of Operations and HR. As expected, since he's moved out to join us at our Las Vegas office, a day doesn't go by without him objectively looking at what can be changed and observing our operational efficiency. Sometimes I pinch myself and cannot believe that it has been 4 months since my family and I moved to Las Vegas and I started working at FluenTalkTM. Care to hear some of the interesting bits? I vividly remember the fiercely blazing sun, turning orange as it settled down for the evening on that fateful November afternoon. Bentzi Elkouby called me out of the blue and asked me to work for him as Director of Operations. Now, I had worked with Bentzi a few months earlier as a teacher and appreciated his vision but I stopped working when my family and I embarked on a journey from Israel, traveled through Europe for a few months and then pitched our tent for three months at my parents’ home in New Jersey while spending all my time searching for our little family’s next step. By the time Bentzi called me I had applied to over a thousand jobs and looked at dozens of communities. My reservoir of hope was beginning to drain, and rather quickly. Then, unexpectedly, Bentzi called and asked me to make my life about FluenTalk and Las Vegas. I was hesitant, however, for many reasons. What experience did I have building companies? Why did Bentzi want me of all people to help him run his operations? And in Sin City no less? America’s materialism is one of the reasons why my family left the US in the first place and now we would head back into the heart of it?! Two weeks later I found myself chasing my daughter Riva down the aisle of a plane on our way to Las Vegas and ever since starting work the next day I have been learning what my role encompassed. First I learned the existing systems in place so I wouldn’t break a working machine. After a few weeks, I started working on streamlining those processes, poking at weak points and flaws until they were no longer there. Only now that the workload is familiar am I starting to think about efficiency and what systems need to be improved the most. Little did I know what I was signing up for at the time but I certainly am super interested in my work. I get to research systems in the hope of developing something cohesive and scalable to help FluenTalk achieve its potential. One thing I love about FluenTalk is that everyone at the management level teaches the same sort of students the newest members of the organization would teach. We are dug into the same trenches as our employees. How else can we properly guide them on how to improve their work? I have always admired leaders such as Alexander, whose philosophy I may or may not agree with but will surely fight beside him on the battlefield. As I am starting to get the hang of things my mind is slowly starting to look ahead into the very short bit of future that we humans can actually affect. I’m asking questions and thinking about the many directions FluenTalk can head towards and what paths might be available for us to get there.

When I listen to a recording of myself - it’s cringe. Visiting the FluenTalkTM office in Vegas, and listening in on one of Bentzi Elkouby’s classes was a similar feeling. It highlighted the mistakes that I make when I speak, and had me thinking that maybe I should go back to class! While I was there, Bentzi was on the phone discussing the program with a potential student. “Can I be candid?” He asked the caller. From the two-minute conversation they’d had, he pointed out 22 mistakes the caller had made. He then went on to break it down into 3 fundamental problems! I was amazed! People don’t even realize what they’re saying until they hear it back. Sometimes you need someone on the outside to mirror it back at you! If you really play back a conversation in your head, you’ll notice some of these mistakes. You know what I mean?
