This month, we're celebrating a decade of movies, brews, and memories in Des Moines! 🎉   Reflecting on this milestone, General Manager Emily Verke shares: "One of the things I love most about Flix is the pure magic of seeing guests at the theater, surrounded by friends and family, sharing moments of joy, excitement, and sometimes sadness. There’s something truly special about the way movies can transport us, offering an escape from the everyday. Each year, we at Flix Entertainment | Flix Brewhouse | Cinema Breweries send two of our brewers to the Master Brewers Brewing and Malting Science course under a scholarship in Memory of Walt Powell, one of the founders of Flix, in addition to RateBeer.com, and several other ventures. This scholarship truly honors Walt's belief that we at Flix Brewhouse can and should make the best quality beer that we can, to give our guests the absolute best and most unique theater experience they will ever have. This year our recipients of the Walt Powell Memorial Scholarship were Lucas Greta and Oleksandra Berezhnyk. Over the past several months, in addition to their everyday brewing duties, they have also been taking MBAA courses and last week went to Minneapolis for their in-person courses, tours and presentations. Each of them presented on topics they had studied through the semester. I am so proud of our leadership group for continuing to recognize Walt's belief that beer quality and education matter. Almost every single one of our brewers has now been through this course. It has positioned Flix to have one of the most skilled and educated brewing teams imaginable and this is reflected in our quality and guest experience. Cheers, Walt!
