About us
Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education, health and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 300 professionals and over 500 trained volunteers work together to provide a wide range of responsive, innovative programs. Through our three Centers of Excellence, children, adults, families and communities receive the care, encouragement and resources needed to realize their potential. Our network delivery network includes 21 licensed facilities, along with more than 60 service delivery sites located throughout lower Fairfield County. Each year, Family Centers serves more than 24,000 children, families and adults. Family Centers has been awarded a perfect 100 Encompass rating for fiscal responsibility from Charity Navigator. We have also been named a nine-time winner of Hearst Connecticut Media's Top Workplace survey. Family Centers is a United Way, Community Fund of Darien and New Canaan Community Foundation partner agency, and is a member of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies. The organization is also accredited by the Joint Commission and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Family Centers is licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Our 3rd Annual Toy Chest was a heartwarming success! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, the hard work of our volunteers, and the support of those who collected toys, more than 800 children in our programs will experience the joy of an extra special holiday. We’re so grateful for this amazing community—and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Over the weekend, Literacy Volunteers brought the community together to celebrate the joy of reading at our annual Book Fest (the first event at our new Bedford Street location!) Thanks to the generosity of Rye Middle School, BANC of Greenwich Human Services and countless individuals in Norwalk who donated their well-loved books, we were able to share about 500 titles with readers of all ages. ✨📖

On December 3, our Early Care and Education (ECE) program facilitated a retreat to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. The event was attended by leaders representing local early education providers, private foundations, legislators and state officials. Beth Bye, Commissioner of Connecticut’s Office of Early Childhood provided welcoming remarks and commended Family Centers and other Fairfield County ECE agencies for their commitment to maintaining quality early education services despite facing ongoing public funding challenges. Merrill Gay, Executive Director of the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance, highlighted the critical role of continued advocacy in driving systemic changes at the state level. ⭐ Many thanks to the Viking Global Foundation for hosting us for this thought-provoking and productive morning!
