Dr. Arshad Kaleem, an Oral and Facial surgeon working with FAJR to provide care to Mazionah, details the procedure required to reconstruct her facial structure. He says, “In her case, our goal is to first reconstruct the mouth and the lip so that she can talk and chew”. This first stage of surgery will be completed today, and will be followed by the second stage in about 3 months during which they will reconstruct her lower jaw bone. A one-year-old female child, the only survivor of her family, arrived at the hospital more than three hours after sustaining a severe injury. Dr. Tahir, determined to save her leg, performed a five-hour reconstructive surgery on the first day to give her a chance at recovery. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, he was forced to amputate her leg today with a heavy heart. This marks the first amputation he has performed in the north after successfully saving many others!

We recently spoke with Al Jazeera journalist Ali Al-Attar, who was evacuated out of Gaza by FAJR on November 20th to receive urgent medical care in Jordan. Reflecting on his recovery, he shared, “Today, I am able to walk, read, and write,” expressing his gratitude for the care he has received at the Specialty Hospital المستشفى التخصصي. We are proud of Ali and looking forward to evacuate Fadi Alwhaidi out of Gaza as soon as possible.

Dr. Tahir mentions that there has been constant, intense bombardment in Northern Gaza, however the FAJR team on the ground remains undeterred from their mission. After a long day of work, operating until dawn, he ensures that “when more cases come, [they] will be standing here to help all the people of the North of Gaza”. حتى مطلع الفجر
