Our talented property management team recently hosted a holiday celebration at the 165-unit affordable senior community, where residents enjoyed a festive meal together while listening to live music performed by members of the Pacific Symphony. Events like these are vital to fostering a strong sense of community and positively impacting the lives of our residents, both at the holidays and all year round. At Fairstead, we’re embracing the spirit of the season by giving back to the communities we serve through meaningful volunteer initiatives. Celebrating Construction Progress at Reid Park Rock 🏡 On November 14, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)'s #PACT partners—BRP Companies, Fairstead and Urbane—hosted a tour at Rutland Towers to showcase improvements under a $635.6M PACT project in East Brooklyn. 🏗️ Under PACT, nearly 1,700 apartments will be fully rehabilitated for nearly 3,500 NYCHA residents living in the Reid Apartments consolidation, which includes Rutland Towers, and the Park Rock Consolidated bundle. Across the Reid and Park Rock project – consisting of 87 buildings throughout East Brooklyn – apartment kitchens and bathrooms will be fully renovated, buildings will receive facade repairs and new layered access systems, and common areas (including lobbies and outdoor spaces) will be upgraded extensively. Social services for the developments were expanded through a partnership with Black Veterans for Social Justice, which offers case management services to all households, including by supporting access to healthy food, employment opportunities, youth activities, and senior services. At Fairstead, we’re always excited to celebrate the start of the holiday season with a focus on giving back to our residents. That’s why this November we distributed more than 2,500 turkeys and Thanksgiving meals to our residents nationwide.  Highlights included: 🦃  At Essex Plaza in Newark, NJ, we were joined by Assembly Member Pintor Marin, Council Member Silva, and Council Member Quintana at our 4th annual turkey drive 🤝  Our Reid Park Rock celebration in Brooklyn, NY was a testament to partnership, led by LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OF EAST NEW YORK (LDCENY) and Black Veterans for Social Justice, Inc. -HQ , and partnering with BRP Companies and Urbane , we were pleased to be joined by Council Member Darlene Mealy’s team in distributing turkeys to our residents 🎵  At our Cleveland, Ohio communities we partnered with local nonprofit Love in Action Ohio to add a live DJ and resources to the event, in addition to distributing Thanksgiving meals complete with all the fixings 📕  At Yale Village and Coppertree Village Apartments in Houston, TX, we were joined by our partners at the Houston Community College to share information about Fairstead-supported GED classes for residents, in addition to having Council Member Tarsha Jackson help in distributing turkeys to our Coppertree residents A huge thank you to our team for making these events such a success and for your continued commitment to our communities nationwide. #affordablehousing #fairstead #communityimpact 

We’re excited to have had our team at AHF Live this week where we connected with colleagues across the affordable housing industry, learned about new innovations in housing, and shared updates on successes across our nationwide portfolio. In addition to connecting with our peers, we were proud to have had Aki Karja, Head of Fairstead Ventures, join a panel titled “Tapping into Technology,” where he presented on the multitude of cutting-edge strategies that we’re deploying to support residents across our portfolio. This work includes our innovative partnerships with ResiHealth and ResiBridge to bring affordable healthcare and internet directly to our residents. Last week, we were thrilled to host a mid-construction celebration at our Reid & Park Rock PACT community in Brooklyn, NY to mark the significant progress we’ve made on the 1,700 unit, 87-building portfolio since April. Our GC team is now more than 50% complete with unit renovations –and has made tremendous progress on façade, roof, common area, boiler, and community space upgrades. At the event, we viewed a range of these improvements, while hearing from our team members about the positive impact this work is having on the lives of our residents. Last week, Fairstead partnered with CREW Coastal Virginia to host a food drive at the Peaceful Village community in Chesapeake, Virginia. Peaceful Village was selected by CREW Coastal Virginia as the recipient of food and household supply donations given out at their annual food drive to benefit a community within the Hampton Roads region. This is an important initiative, and we’re proud to have had our very own Estelle C., Senior Director, Development participate to support the Chesapeake area and the residents who call it home. Yesterday, Noah Hale, Managing Director, Development, at Fairstead, had the opportunity to speak at Bisnow’s South Florida Annual Housing Summit and discuss Fairstead’s proven approach to the preservation of affordable housing in the region, including through public-private partnerships. Presenting on a panel titled “Addressing Housing Affordability in South Florida,” he joined fellow industry leaders in a conversation that explored how legislation, innovative strategies, and market changes can allow for transformative change that improves affordable housing for residents across Florida. This month, Fairstead was proud to participate in the Canstruction New York design competition for the second year in a row! Using nearly 700 food cans (which will feed more than 400 New Yorkers!) our team created a supersized rabbit structure titled “All Ears to Solve Hunger.” The design encouraged viewers to “hop into action” and address New York’s pressing hunger crisis through collective action. We would like to thank Canstruction New York, Inc., City Harvest and Brookfield Properties for putting on this impactful event that raises awareness to the ongoing issue of food insecurity in New York. This Election Day, Fairstead is proud to uphold our commitment to civic engagement by encouraging all our colleagues and residents to vote and make their voices heard. In line with this commitment, Fairstead and our partners recently hosted a “Get Out the Vote” event at our Reid & Park Rock PACT community in Brooklyn, New York. During the event, members of the Brooklyn Voters Alliance assisted residents with voter registration, provided essential Election Day information, and motivated the community to make a voting plan.
