𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 The festive season is here, and with it comes the excitement of work parties. It’s a great time to celebrate the year’s achievements with colleagues, but it’s also important to keep safety in mind while letting your hair down a little. Here are my top five tips for staying safe at the party. They're easier to keep in mind if you think: “Party”. An apt way to remember these "Stay Safe" tips for this time of the year! 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗣ace Yourself: It’s easy to get caught up in the festive atmosphere, but drinking in moderation helps you stay in control and make better decisions throughout the night. Alternate alcoholic drinks with water, and remember - it’s a marathon, not a sprint! 𝗔ssert Boundaries: If you receive unwanted attention, be polite but firm. Clearly communicate your boundaries - it’s okay to say no. Think about your immediate environment and safe spaces, like trusted colleagues or event security, if the behaviour persists. Your safety and comfort come before the feelings of others. 𝗥emain Together: Safety is always better in numbers. Stay close to colleagues you trust, keep an eye out for each other, and make sure they and their belongings - phones, wallets, and other valuables - remain safe throughout the night. 𝗧rack Your Drinks: Be aware of the dangers of drink spiking. Never leave your drink unattended, and avoid accepting drinks from strangers. If you ever feel unsure about your drink, it's better to err on the side of caution and get a new one. Your safety is more important than the cost of a drink! 𝗬our Instincts Are Key: Trust your gut feeling - if something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Whether it’s about avoiding certain interactions or deciding to leave earlier, always listen to your instincts. Join me for a few minutes as I talk through these points in this short video to help make sure your festive celebrations stay safe. Please do share this with colleagues if you found it useful. Wishing you a safe and happy festive season from me and all of us at ESD! • Last week, Everyday Self Defence had the pleasure of delivering our Enhanced Security Team Training Course to some of the team members from a prestigious five-star London hotel. Our course is an enhanced package that goes beyond basic SIA training, with a primary focus on decision-making, effective team communication and confidence in explaining action taken. The course includes:
 * Effective decision-making in fast-moving situations * Law and policy * Post-incident considerations * Conflict communication and de-escalation * Controlling space and safe approach * Team-based control and restraint * Self-defence against sudden assault * Edged weapon awareness * Post-incident reporting Working with the Director of Security & Safety, Martin Kane we tailored the course to incorporate the lessons learned from previous incidents. Martin has built a diligent and focused team of security officers, and is very commitment to their ongoing training and support. It was a fantastic experience to train such a dedicated team. Thank you, Martin, for the amazing feedback it was a real pleasure and we look forward to meeting the rest of the team this week.

  • 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀? At Everyday Self Defence, we receive enquiries from organisations about running self defence classes. The enquiry is usually a request for a couple of 45-minute classes once a week, similar to how fitness classes are set up. If the goal is to do this as a team building opportunity, then these short sessions have some value and of course are a lot of fun. But this is not a Safer Staff programme. In a 45-minute session, participants expect it to be physical in nature, which is understandable, but before we do any physical skills, there's a host of subjects we need to discuss and share opinions and sometimes, experiences of. Safer Staff programmes are about balancing both education and training, to ensure that any physical skills taught have context and in turn build confidence. Everyday Self Defence offers both team building AND Safer Staff programmes. The team building session is the first step towards creating Safer Staff to build interest and curiosity, and then move to a longer programme which covers essential subjects and skills to keep staff staff when going to and from work, or in the course of their duties. What do your teams need? #saferstaff #wellbeing #employeesmatter #selfdefence #perosnalsafety

  • 📣 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 📣 After two years of development, we are excited to formally announce the launch of EverydaySelf Defence, a brand dedicated to equipping individuals with the skills and confidence to protect themselves. Our mission is to provide comprehensive self-defence, de-escalation, and personal safety training for both the public and private sectors. Following Military Service and working in Private Security, our co-founder Jonathan Bullock has devoted his career to teaching self defence, as we believe everyone has the right to learn to protect themselves. He has trained extensively in various systems and has refined these methods through working with military units and law enforcement, front line personnel who have limited training time to learn essential skills. Two years ago, a conversation with Marc Nohr sparked the idea to adapt these for the corporate sector. Since then, we have been working tirelessly to develop a series of courses that meets the unique needs of our clients from self defence, to de-escalation and personal safety. Our programs are designed for everyone—from frontline workers who may encounter conflict as part of their job, to CEOs committed to their staff’s safety and wellbeing. We believe that safety and wellbeing should extend beyond the company’s doors. We have collaborated with some of the world’s leading educators, authors, and experts to create training methods that are accessible, regardless of fitness level or prior experience. Our goal is to make self-defence skills attainable for all. The positive feedback from our clients, including SKY, Virgin Media O2, Fishmongers Hall, and Enfield Council, has been invaluable in helping us refine our programs.
Thank you to Marc for his support and guidance as co-founder. We welcome any questions, feedback, or experiences you’d like to share regarding self-defence or personal safety in the workplace. #selfdefence #deescalation #saferstaff #wellbeing #employeesmatter #conflictresolution
