Within the continental U.S., there are burdensome, antiquated regulatory hurdles limiting how and when non-kinetic counter-drone systems can be operated. We must do more to expand our domestic arsenal of cUAS capabilities, to include high-power microwave, for homeland security and public safety purposes. In addition to regulatory updates, we also need to update the way we think about short-range air defense. Our C2, sensors and effectors have traditionally taken a 1 to 1 approach, but today’s era of asymmetric warfare necessitates a 1 to many mentality. At Epirus, we are in a prime position to provide that 1 to many solution. The nation cannot wait for a large-scale drone attack to be the catalyst for change when proven technologies exist today that can mitigate the swarm threat. We recently welcomed U.S. Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth to Epirus HQ for a tour of our production-ready manufacturing facility. We discussed our shared commitment to equipping U.S. Soldiers with the best counter-UAS technology available. We're grateful to the Secretary for her spearheading work to advance Army modernization priorities. Our Nation’s security depends on building electronic warfare solutions that stay ahead of the pace of the drone threat.

Our CEO Andy Lowery sat down with Axios's Colin Demarest to talk all things future of defense and the integration of advanced technologies into defense systems. "Lowery sees 'full-on centaur warfare' — that is, humans and machines working intimately together — dominating the next decade." From new methods of forging steel to the invention of gunpowder, the intersection of technology and warfare has been a staple of human history. In today's hyperconnected, digital world, we believe human intellect, creativity and adaptability paired with advanced autonomous weapons will be the winning combination in the next epoch of warfare. https://lnkd.in/eSDRNXdD

AI-enabled unmanned systems? Fiber-optic controlled drones? Weaponized drone swarms? These and other low-cost, commercially available threats are redefining conflict in today's age of asymmetric, electronic warfare. These new adversarial tactics must be met with superior defense systems that leverage deep tech innovations from the component to system level in order to evolve with the shifting threat environment. Epirus' Leonidas high-power microwave systems do just that, emitting a powerful and precise shield of energy to protect against a spectrum of electronic threats. See for yourself ↘

From all of us to all of you—thank you. "We honor generations of America’s veterans—patriots who have stood on the frontlines of freedom and kept the light of liberty shining bright around the world. Just as they have kept the ultimate faith in our Nation, we must keep ultimate faith in them." #VeteransDay

For a deeper look inside the business of defense, we spoke to Bloomberg Television about the flawed status quo in the defense industrial base—and how Epirus is disrupting business as usual with our innovative, 'neo-prime' operating model. "Lowery's company is one of the so-called neo-primes laboring to help the Defense Department make the big shift from slow development of huge weapons systems to the new world of innovation and fast scaling."
