About us
We are a team of professionals, designers and innovators who uphold ENVISION's core values of vision, excellence and character. We are inspired by the inherent potential that design embodies for building, serving, and strengthening communities. In Healthcare, Science & Technology, Education and Community & Cultural focus areas, the client types vary greatly, and within each project we lead for them, we see the long reach design can have - creating beautiful and memorable spaces, ecologically sensitive environments, optimizing efficiencies and production, and bringing people together. We consider community inclusive of each project's end-users, supporters, project funders, future inhabitants, and the vast meshwork of each project's social and economic participants, as well as the recipients of the services our clients provide. We aim to continually advance the reach and vision of our clients, supporting their mission through design, meeting or exceeding their goals... impacting their communities. Our firm was Founded in 1983, and is a New York State Certified Women-Owned Business. We provide in-depth expertise in planning and design, with a 40 year history including a local and regional award-winning portfolio. We offer architecture and interior design services. Our passion for design and community are complemented by our attention to detail, and our outstanding performance delivering projects, with excellence in project management, professionalism and technical skill, all fostered in a collaborative environment - where we challenge each other, our consultants teams and our clients, we are energized by the problem-solving associated with information, technology and new paradigms.

We are happy to share that Larry MacQueen Pooler, AIA, LEED AP has earned a promotion to Associate at Envision. Larry’s career at Envision has encompassed over 16 years of dedicated work. During his time at Envision, Larry has been an integral part of numerous projects, his most memorable of which the expansion of the Emergency Department and Rosa Rd. Parking Structure at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. This project highlighted Larry’s ability to handle programmatically and technically complex projects while designing a structure with great sensitivity to the community in which it was being built. When asked what inspires him professionally, Larry says, “Built and theoretical architectural works, visual compositions of any type, as well as natural and industrial forms are a few of many sources of inspiration, but the most inspiring are the challenges of a complex design problem.” In the role of Associate, Larry will continue to lead design and technical work, while expanding his role as mentor of rising designers. He will also develop and implement new initiatives with Envision’s Associates group of design professionals. Congratulations, Lawrence MacQueen Pooler, LEED AP !!!

When our clients commit to providing better services to their clients and residents, the spaces we design have meaningful reach in the experiences of those groups. At Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center we were determined to bring light, texture and a fresh aesthetic to the new gymnasium and wellness addition. We designed a vibrant set of spaces for children’s activities and classes, while focusing on their safety, staff safety, acoustics, and durability. We thank DASNY and NYS Office of Mental Health for trusting us with this important impactful project.

When the Reamer Campus Center auditorium flooded two years ago, we were working through the design to modernize the dining hall upstairs. Our clients at Union College asked us to rethink the look and feel of the vintage 1985 auditorium, and also to help them incorporate accessibility that had previously been lacking. Aesthetically we struck the balance between movie theatre, as requested by Film Studies, and a modernized lecture space, used by campus and community groups. We sought to create a beautiful, sophisticated and interesting space at all scales - from the “big picture” to elevation compositions, to woodwork details, to tweedy and textural finishes.
