Big news for Portland! Yesterday, the Portland City Council approved $300 million in grants to tackle climate change and support the communities most affected by it. Energy Trust and its partners APANO Communities United Fund (CUF), Community Energy Project, Inc. and Self Enhancement, Inc. will receive $25 million to bring solar power to hundreds of homes and apartment buildings in Portland. This will significantly lower energy bills for thousands of families - saving them as much as $25,000 in energy costs over the next 20 years. ☀️ Read more about this historic program: https://lnkd.in/gP7wA2NU #PortlandClimateAction #SolarEnergy #PCEF #CleanEnergy #SustainableFuture

On Monday, we had the opportunity to join the Albina Vision Trust (AVT) for a tour spotlighting the rich history and transformative future of Portland’s historic lower Albina neighborhood. Once home to 80% of Portland’s Black population, Albina’s legacy was disrupted by urban renewal policies and the construction of I-5. Today, AVT is re-rooting Black legacies and futures in this community through racial, economic and environmental justice. AVT is showcasing groundbreaking approaches to energy efficiency and wealth generation while partnering with our New Buildings Program. Residents of the Albina One multifamily building - now under construction - will never pay utility bills, thanks to an innovative financial structure and built-in efficiency. Additionally, the district is exploring microgrids, district heating and other community-scale solutions that reflect a bold 50-year vision for equitable development. Congratulations to AVT on this inspiring movement for innovation and equity!🎉 https://lnkd.in/gUgRSTse #AlbinaVisionTrust #EnergyEfficiency #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityInnovation
