Have you heard of the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model? It is a great neuro-affirming intervention for autistics and Santa Clara County Association of School Psychologists is hosting a workshop by Dr. Ross Greene on the topic: Workshop Description: Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is an evidence-based model of psychosocial treatment originated and developed by Dr. Ross Greene, and described in his books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Raising Human Beings, and Lost & Found. Rather than focusing on kids’ concerning behaviors (and modifying them), CPS helps kids and caregivers solve the problems that are causing those behaviors. The problem solving is collaborative (not unilateral) and proactive (not reactive). Research has shown that the model is effective at dramatically improving kids’ behavior and their relationships with their caregivers, and at dramatically reducing or eliminating discipline referrals, suspensions, restraints, and seclusions in schools. https://lnkd.in/gpYjZ-yd

Autism Spectrum Disorder is just that....a spectrum. Characteristics present differently in different people but having a general sense of the preferences and sensitivities of autistic individuals can help build awareness, acceptance, support, and access. Here is a nice graphic from Amanda Mc Guinness that shows what many autistic people like and some tools they use to stay regulated and feel safe in their environment ✨
