These programs train English language learners to become licensed nursing assistants (LNAs). The 18-week curriculum includes specialized English language instruction, professional skills development, and 144 hours of LNA training to prepare graduates for the New Hampshire Board of Nursing exam. • We are proud to share that Amy Drago, respiratory therapist, has been named Team Member of the Month for November 2024! The Team Member of the Month award is designed to recognize individuals who exemplify The Elliot’s mission to inspire, heal, and serve. Amy shows her dedication to The Elliot’s mission, her colleagues, and the patients that she serves every day. Amy gives 100% in everything she does for patient care. Amy is always willing to spend extra time with patients, explaining the treatments and therapies they are receiving. She always makes sure her patients feel comfortable and secure while they are in her care. Amy goes above and beyond to help her colleagues and will jump into any unit, from our tiniest patients in the NICU to pediatrics and adults, to help patients. “Working with her makes others truly want to do better,” said one of her colleagues. • My name is Jennifer Tansey. I am a prenatal genetic counselor in the department of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Elliot Hospital. A genetic counselor is a healthcare professional with a master’s degree who helps people understand their genetic health and make informed decisions about genetic testing. A prenatal genetic counselor focuses on helping expectant parents understand genetic risks that may affect their pregnancy or their baby’s health. We work on a team with maternal fetal medicine doctors and sonographers. Genetic counselors also provide emotional support, helping patients and their families cope with the results of genetic tests and make decisions that best suit their needs and values. We also provide informational resources to patients and make connections to other resources, such as support groups or parent networks, when helpful. I became a genetic counselor because I wanted to work in healthcare, and I wanted a job where I was not rushed and had time to spend in consultation with patients and families. I was drawn to the field of genetics because of its complexity and our ever-expanding understanding of the human genome and how it provides instructions for our bodies to grow and function. I love being a genetic counselor because I get to work with patients and couples during one of the most transformative experiences of their lives as they become parents. When there is a concern in a pregnancy, it can be very scary, stressful, and emotional. By providing clear and honest information and by showing genuine care and concern for the couple and their baby, I can help them make the best decisions for themselves and their pregnancy. A bonus of being a prenatal genetic counselor is that I get to see the values we share and how similar we are in our desire for our children to be healthy, happy, and provided for. This work is so impactful, and I am grateful to be a part of such a meaningful time in our patients’ lives.

  • We’re excited to celebrate Eileen M., a dedicated floor nurse on the geropsychiatric unit at Elliot Hospital for the past year. This unit specializes in the psychiatry of older adults. Eileen plays an essential role in completing medical and psychological assessments, medicating patients, and assisting families through challenging times. She’s also expanded her skill set by learning the charge nurse position and training to become IV certified. Eileen’s work in geropsychiatry is vital as she helps patients manage both medical and psychological issues, while also supporting families. Her dedication to patient care and teamwork with the psychiatry and medical teams ensures that all patients’ needs are met. Before joining The Elliot, Eileen spent 11 years as a director of nursing in homecare but decided to pursue her dream of working in psychology while studying to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She found her home at The Elliot, drawn by the excellent reputation of the psych units, and has never looked back. She explains, “I have never met such dedicated staff. Staying here has been an easy decision.” In her free time, Eileen loves hiking with her rescue dog Bruschi, listening to live music, dancing, attending her nephews' sports games, and spending time with family and friends. We are so fortunate to have Eileen as part of our team!

  • Here is what Jody says about his move to The Elliot: “I live near the New Hampshire seacoast and was hesitant about the commute. Over the years, I continued to hear great things about The Elliot, so I had to make the leap! I am so happy that I did. This place provides amazing care. "The non-profit mission and the community's trust in The Elliot were important factors in my decision to work here. I see a huge difference at The Elliot over previous health systems, and it has improved the patient care that I offer. The support system at The Elliot is incredible, and I love knowing that everything The Elliot does improves patient care or helps the community. "The people who work at The Elliot are amazing! When I arrived for my first face-to-face interview, I happened upon a security guard in the parking lot and told him that I had an interview in five minutes and asked for directions. He drove me to the front door, said good luck, and that I would love it here. He was right. Everyone I have met since then has been helpful and welcoming. Just from that initial impression, I knew that The Elliot was a special place! "I have worked at five different hospital organizations in my career and have never experienced this level of positive teamwork before. Every unit has amazing staff, and you can just feel how much they care about each other and their patients.” Join our team! You'll get more than just a career at The Elliot. • Meet Taylor Ward, our newest ambulatory clinical pharmacist at Elliot Health System, working to make your healthcare experience smoother and more accessible. Taylor is part of a dedicated team of pharmacists embedded directly within our primary care practices, meaning that expert medication management and personalized care are just a visit away. As a medication expert, Taylor works closely with healthcare providers in our Bedford practices to help patients manage their medications and optimize treatment plans. This integrated approach ensures patients receive hands-on guidance for complex medication needs right alongside their other health services. For patients, this means less time between appointments and more immediate support when adjusting medications or addressing potential side effects. Taylor says, “As an ambulatory clinical pharmacist, I have specialized training in managing chronic conditions and work closely with healthcare providers to begin, adjust, or stop medications. I am dedicated to helping patients understand their health and the role of each medication in reaching their health goals. It’s incredibly rewarding to see patients take control of their health. Additionally, I understand the complexities of accessing medications, from navigating prior authorizations to providing alternative medication recommendations. My goal is to serve as a bridge between the clinic and the pharmacy, offering support at each step along the way.” Our ambulatory pharmacist program, currently available in Bedford, Londonderry, and Senior Health, allows patients easier access to these important services while opening appointment availability with other providers. Taylor’s presence in Bedford brings this added layer of convenience to the community, ensuring patients have the right medication guidance and support. This program will soon be expanding, bringing even more locations across Elliot Health System so that patients throughout our communities can benefit from coordinated care and streamlined access to pharmacy expertise.
