Today, we’re proud to add another proof point to our continued momentum: We just opened our first station with Costco Wholesale! Again and again, Electric Era’s battery-backed EV charging stations are adding value to customer retail locations. What did it look to team up with another stellar Washington-based company? Here are the details: Electric Era recently worked with Costco Wholesale to deploy fast EV charging stations at their Ridgefield, Washington, location. The challenge? Offer a reliable and rapid deployment solution in just seven weeks, a process that usually takes years. Costco had several essential objectives: • Speed: Meet tight deadlines without delaying the new store opening • Reliability: Provide consistent uptime for an optimal customer experience • Efficiency: Avoid costly grid upgrades and managing energy costs effectively Electric Era’s patented battery-backed technology and full end-to-end solution met Costco’s needs—delivering a comprehensive installation in a fraction of the industry standard timeline (7 weeks from project initiation to full operation). This collaboration didn’t just set a new standard for installation speed but demonstrated how our approach delivers rapid, reliable charging and aligns with retailer’s brand and customer value. Our CEO, Quincy Edmund Lee noted, “This installation exemplifies how Electric Era delivers on unmatched deployment speed and ensures reliable charging infrastructure to meet the growing demands of Costco’s EV-driving members.” EV charging isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s essential. Costco’s decision to choose Electric Era shows how forward-thinking retailers are transforming their operations to delight members. More here from Geekwire. Our EV team installed four new charging stations at Middle Tennessee Electric's office, providing a convenient and sustainable charging hub for their employees. This addition is an important step as Murfreesboro continues to grow its EV infrastructure. With 66 charging stations currently available across the city, the new stations further contribute to expanding access for the increasing number of electric vehicle owners in Tennessee. Thank you to Electric Era for being a great partner during this process as we work together to bring sustainable and reliable charging infrastructure to Tennessee communities. 📍555 New Salem Highway, Murfreesboro, Tennessee #onamission #electricvehicle #ev #evcharging

Legacy EV charging stations require a backend web connection to start charging. This negatively impacts EV drivers during network outages. Electric Era protects drivers against outages to improve reliability. Here is how 👇 ⚡ While network outages are infrequent, they do occur, and anecdotal accounts show that reliance on internet authorization has a meaningful negative impact on uptime and EV driver experience during outages. Electric Era protects EV drivers against this with our "Central System" architecture at the charging station itself to handle offline charging session authorization. This approach improves uptime and the EV driver experience. The following figure shows the typical communication flow exercised by an OCPP 1.6-based system between the end-user driver (customer), the charger (charge point), and the central system (OCPP backend) in a typical transaction. Notably, interaction with the “Central System”, typically operating as a cloud service, is performed twice before charging begins. The Central System is responsible for validation authorization to charge, whether it is from credit card authorization, EV network services like Plug-and-Charge, or some other means (like RFID card). While Plug-and-Charge requires internet connectivity to successfully authorize, credit card authorization, as shown in our white paper, does not. At Electric Era, supporting offline payments, which supports reliability overall, is handled through a combination of two mechanisms: 1) support of offline payments by the payment gateway service and 2) a compute element on-site that can manage the payment terminal when an Internet connection is failing. 🔋 Reliability is currently a sticking point for the EV charging industry. But it doesn't have to be. Our VP of Engineering Hasitha Dharmasiri just released a white paper "Accessing & Enabling Superior EV Charging Station Reliability" examining how the introduction of Successful Charge Attempt Rate (SCAR) brings a more comprehensive view of charging reliability that aligns with what drivers actually experience. Key insights from our analysis: ⮕ How traditional metrics like uptime don't tell the whole story of charging reliability ⮕ How measuring Successful Charge Attempt Rate (SCAR) provides a more complete picture of the driver experience ⮕ How factors like payment processing, connectivity, and vehicle interoperability impact session reliability ⮕ What's actually causing charging failures? (Hint: The data might surprise you) ⮕ Real solutions we've implemented to achieve 98.42% per-port uptime across our network (Jan 1-Nov 25, 2024) We're backing these insights with unprecedented transparency: 329 days of operations, 7,000+ charging sessions, and comprehensive performance data showing exactly how we achieved these results. Read our blog & download the white paper to explore how next-generation charging infrastructure is setting new standards for reliability- link in comments ⬇ #EVCharging #Infrastructure #ChargingReliability
