NASA’s deputy administrator says there is nearly unanimous support for its low Earth orbit microgravity strategy that endorses keeping humans in orbit continuously during the transition to commercial space stations.

Less than a year since the Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit entered its new era dubbed DIU 3.0, the innovation hub has its eyes set on further scaling operations and bringing more non-traditional contractors into the department’s ecosystem.

Companies can now start applying for direct loans from the Defense Department’s Office of Strategic Capital, which is looking to disperse up to nearly $1 billion to finance equipment via its new credit program.

The Air Force is realigning its Headquarters Cyberspace Capabilities Center to the Office of the Chief Information Officer in an attempt to streamline information technology functions.

The Pentagon’s strategic capital office will focus its 2025 investments on 15 industry segments it thinks could most support U.S. national security needs, including spacecraft, microelectronics materials and manufacturing and biochemicals.

[T]he Pentagon has placed updating its digital strategies at the top of its list of priorities. As a result, the DoD unveiled ambitious plans in 2024 to rev up its information technology and network capabilities, both at the highest level and within the services.

The Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency may soon launch a new program to develop more robust quantum sensors that can be integrated onto U.S. military platforms, according to a special notice.

"While the DCTC exemplifies how the government is initiating partnerships with academia from the top down, grassroots efforts like certificate programs at engineering schools are preparing to engage the United States Space Force from the bottom up. All together, these initiatives demonstrate how the Space Force can engage academic institutions to foster the workforce it needs among its civilian employees, active-duty Guardians and industry partners."
