About us
At EDA, we believe architecture is the most powerful design form in transforming people’s lives and our environment. Sixty years ago, our founders introduced architectural modernism to Salt Lake City, establishing a practice of progressive design that continues to this day. Rooted in the unique culture, climate and geography of the Salt Lake region, this ethos drives a design process uniquely suited to the the mountains, valleys and deserts of the Intermountain West. We call this Utah Modernism: a regionally relevant design philosophy that aims to do more than simply make good buildings, but to create places that engage and inspire our community.

Our team recently had the honor of touring the nearly completed Applied Science Building at the University of Utah, which signifies a significant achievement in a journey that began with much anticipation. This cutting-edge facility will soon be the new home for the Atmospheric Sciences and Physics & Astronomy departments, providing advanced classrooms, laboratories and research areas for the university. As a vital component of the upcoming Crocker Science Complex, this undertaking has been a remarkable joint effort involving faculty and experts. We've taken pride in successfully managing the project within budget and timeline, even amidst the current unpredictable market conditions. More details to come! #universityofutah #ScienceBuilding #STEM #InnovativeDesign #ScientificResearch #ConstructionProject #Collaboration #ProjectManagement #Achievement

EDA’s Stacy and Witbeck Operations and Training Center defines a corner of the North Temple Corridor with its bold L-shaped massing that engages both street fronts. The human-scaled design enhances neighborhood walkability by activating the streetscape through a thoughtful layering of materials and spatial transparency. A cantilevered central staircase, constructed from industrial steel grating, serves as a visual interior anchor while fostering connectivity between collaborative and individual workspaces across two floors. Situated in a key location within the rapidly transforming corridor, the building exemplifies a contemporary, contextually responsive approach to urban architecture. 🌆🚉 #TransitDesign #UrbanDevelopment #EDA Architect/ Interior Design: EDA Contractor: R&O Construction Special thanks to: @stacywitbeck 📸 EDA || 📍 Salt Lake City, Utah

✨ Join us in welcoming Lexie to the EDA team! ✨ With a background in Interior Architecture and a passion for psychology, Lexie brings a fresh perspective to creating functional, inclusive spaces. Having recently relocated from Boston, she’s excited to call Utah home and expand her design skills with us. When she’s not designing, Lexie loves spending time outdoors, 3D modeling and cuddling with her puppy. We’re thrilled to have her on board! #WelcomeToEDA #InteriorDesign #MeetTheTeam #UtahDesign

At EDA, we believe architecture is the most powerful design form in transforming lives and communities. This #worldarchitectureday, we’re celebrating a landmark in EDA's architectural history—our first large-scale application of Utah Modernism: the iconic Salt Lake City Library (now the Leonardo Museum). Completed in 1964, this enduring structure introduced New Formalism to the region, using local materials like precast concrete and integrating public art, including the sculpture Songs of Innocence. Today, the building serves as a cultural institution, reminding us how thoughtful design can inspire and endure. For 60 years, we’ve built on this tradition, shaping a sustainable future through architecture that enriches lives and reflects the unique environment of the Intermountain West.
