I had the awesome opportunity to develop a Learning and Development Department for ECF Engineering Consultants. A Design Engineer, an HR Assistant, and a Distribution & Transmission Engineer were selected from their staff and trained to become trainers. We spent one year together, they are now Certified Trainers through my company, Executive Resource Solutions & Consultants. On this day I held an off-site training at my office teaching training techniques, the importance of working together (the pool game), and the importance of effective listening. Fostering Collaboration in the Workplace Through Interior Design In efforts to foster collaboration at ECF, we were intentional with our vision for our 20,000 sq ft self-engineered headquarters building. Below are the Top 3 Conscious Design Choices we implemented: 1. Open Floor Plans: Design open spaces that minimize barriers between teams. Avoid high cubicle walls and create a layout that fosters visual connections among employees. 2. Collaborative Spaces: Create designated collaboration zones with comfortable seating, whiteboards, and technology for presentations. These areas can be used for teamwork and brainstorming sessions. 3. Natural Light and Views: Maximize natural light and incorporate large windows or glass walls. Access to natural light can enhance mood and productivity, and views of the outside can provide stimulation.
