Formed in 2009, DL Cohen Construction Company is a leading commercial framing contractor in the Front Range Colorado Region. Focusing on large multifamily, apartments and commercial carpentry, DL Cohen's approach is truly unique to commercial framing contractors in this market. With an emphasis and reliance on Pre-operations support, DL Cohen provides both highly accurate bidding and valuable budgetary support as well as code interpretation along with alternates, material specifications ideas or substitutions, extensive coordination support for related scopes including HVAC, steel. and concrete contractor framing embedments. It is during pre-operations that we weave together all of the pieces, positioning ourselves and clients for successful execution from start to finish without the avoidable pitfalls that are all too common in framing and multi-family construction. DL Cohen’s subsidiary component manufacturer Huron Components LLC, supports DL Cohen’s Pre-operations process by virtually building the project in Mitek Sapphire Structure and assembling wall panels with in-house labor in Littleton, CO. Our approach to Operations is equally focused on a professional execution of our work and contracts. Our top priority operationally is to promote safe work practices. With full time, on-site management our field staff is effectively supported by our home office through very open and eager lines of communication with the Pre-ops team as well as with strong technology systems and tools. Panelized Light-Frame Construction with DL Cohen On Monday, I had the pleasure of hosting a WoodWorks tour alongside APA – The Engineered Wood Association and DL Cohen Construction Company LLC/Huron Components LLC. We explored the innovative world of panelized light-frame wood manufacturing and construction at the DL Cohen/Huron Components factory and an active jobsite in Green Valley Ranch! We visited DL Cohen’s paperless manufacturing facility, where light-frame wood wall panels and trusses are produced offsite to ensure accuracy, high quality, and consistency. As highlighted, DL Cohen/Huron Components methodology is backed by their comprehensive modeling structure and in-house component manufacturing that helps them deliver precision, quality, and support tailored specifically for framers and project teams. These panels are shipped to job sites in thoughtfully sequenced packages for rapid and straightforward erection. The projects DL Cohen shared with us highlighted the benefits of offsite panel manufacturing, including creating safer job sites, reducing material waste, and accelerating construction timelines. Green Valley Ranch Jobsite: The GVR development features 9 buildings of 3-story garden apartments. We saw trusses stacked with studs from roof to foundation, exemplary sheathing nailing, and neatly coordinated and installed MEP systems. With the end of Teacher Appreciation week, we want to give a shout-out to Curtis Hanock at Douglas County High School! His continued efforts in serving his students in their Career Technical Education Programs have not gone unnoticed. Mr. Hanock's students have constructed many items including; chicken coops, birdhouses, mountain shelves, furniture, presentation/workbench, outdoor storage boxes, and framed a bedroom/attic in their learning lab.
