Days like these, I'm able to see in real time why we started Diode.io. We did it because there aren't practical options for most organizations, apps, and people to secure their communication and connectivity. Two weeks ago, it came out that "MFA is no longer sufficient": https://lnkd.in/gi5Db-qn . And last week, the US govt has started recommending everyone use E2EE apps due to a massive and ongoing telco breach: https://lnkd.in/ggk7qUfY . As I read articles like these, two things are clear: 1) Phone numbers are part of the problem - they are just another form of centralized, hackable identity. Blockchain-anchored self-custody credentials are the way of the future 2) Even if you could trust "the good guys" to spy on you ethically (is that a thing?!), that is too much trust - again and again backdoors become front doors for uninvited party crashers. Systems that choreograph E2EE security are the way of the future. Relationally-bootstrapped communications, with zero other third parties who can bring uninvited guests, must become a mindset and a way of life. The future is bright, and also big - privacy and provenance will keep it meaningful.
