Every child deserves an opportunity for an excellent public education.
About us
Delaware Charter Schools Network is Delaware’s statewide charter support organization. We are a membership network that represents charter schools of all types throughout the First State. We proudly work for over 18,000 children in 24 charter schools. Our network unifies all charter schools in order to achieve critical policy and programmatic gains. The Delaware Charter Schools Network is a non-profit organization created in 2001 to support the charter school movement and charter schools in Delaware. Through school member dues and donations from foundations, the Network provides advocacy and essential services to public charter schools, their boards, leaders, staff, and parents. The Network educates the public about charter schools, provides assistance to existing Delaware charter schools and those yet to open, and serves as a unified voice for the state’s charter schools at the state and national level. Charter schools are free, independent, public schools, that play a critical role in Delaware’s public education landscape. In 1995, the charter school law was passed with the goal of increasing choices for families and raising the academic performance of all Delaware schools. Today, 24 charter schools offer an abundance of options for families of the First State, with new applicants in the process for possible authorization. The Delaware Charter Schools Network believes that every child deserves an opportunity for an excellent public education. As a small state, Delaware can serve as the model for excellence in education and choice, and the Network is committed to supporting schools to enhance quality and opportunities in education.

🌟 Leadership in Action at the Delaware Charter Schools Network 🌟 Yesterday at the state's Student Behavior and School Climate Task Force meeting, our Executive Director, Kendall Massett, delivered a powerful presentation on the pivotal role of family engagement in fostering a positive educational environment. Kendall highlighted the necessity of understanding and adapting to the unique circumstances of each family, stressing that "family engagement, family involvement, family support looks different for every school, community, every family." She passionately argued that true change within our schools begins with building authentic relationships and not just through policy enforcement. “We meet our families where they are because we don't always know what's going on in their home or work lives,” Kendall explained, underscoring the importance of personalized engagement strategies that respect and acknowledge diverse family dynamics. Kendall also showcased how Delaware's charter schools are leading the way in transforming school climates through initiatives like ParentCamp, which facilitates open dialogues among families without the direct lead of school officials. This approach has cultivated environments where educational stakeholders can work collaboratively to support student growth both academically and socially. 🔗 "Relationship-building is the real key to a healthy school climate," Kendall asserted, challenging attendees to prioritize meaningful interactions over procedural mandates. Join us in advocating for and implementing strategies that make our schools welcoming and effective for all.
