Dataswyft is pleased to announce the launch of the HATLAB Studio Living Lab (HALL), in conjunction with a special track at the International Conference of AI and Digital Economy in 2025 (CADE 2025). HALL is a living lab that enables researchers to conduct live social experiments with the CheckD Data Wallet to create impact, especially with social and financial inclusion and in achieving the United Nations’ sustainability goals, all while providing identityless data on interactions in an ecosystem. Over the next few months, HALL projects will be announced across the globe. Data from HALL projects will be made available for research and policy analysis. In Malaysia, Dr Yazrina Yahya has been appointed as the Research Director for HALL Malaysia. Dr Yazrina Yahya is an Associate Professor with Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and previously the Deputy Director at Malaysia Leadership Higher Education Academy. Says Dr Yazrina: “We are very honoured for Malaysia to be one of the pioneering countries for HALL. Now, more than ever, digital technologies can make a difference in helping the marginalized leapfrog to a better quality of life through the use of their own data. The CheckD Data Wallet can help researchers design creative projects that can achieve impact while publishing their results in top international journals. It’s a win-win for everyone.“ Says Professor Irene Ng Group CEO of Dataswyft: “HALL was borne out of genuine need to include researchers and policymakers in our learning journey as the CheckD Data Wallet starts to scale. We have high expectations that HALL Malaysia will be the poster child for achieving both social and economic impact with distributed and decentralized ecosystems.“ Online Briefing sessions on how CheckD Data Wallet works and how research can be conducted will be held from this week. Researchers interested in participating can find out more on the HALL website here: https://lnkd.in/eJM_4rbj. An onsite briefing of HALL will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 3 Dec 2024. If you are interested to attend, please register here: https://lnkd.in/edwWShxd A special track at the International Conference of AI and Digital Economy (CADE 2025) in Venice in July 2025 will be dedicated to HALL research papers. Micro-SMEs (MSMEs) represent 90-99% of global businesses today but they could also cause a productivity crisis, given the amount of time MSMEs spend on non-productive work. The development of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) could help improve MSMEs’ productivity, but DPI is not without its challenges. Read more about the benefits and challenges of DPI as discussed by HATLAB Studio specialists during a recent HATLAB Studio Coffee Session on DPI in October. https://lnkd.in/eH-RZkvh #productivity #digitalpublicinfrastructure #microsme #msme #selfsovereigndata #selfsovereignidentity #digitization #empowerment #Communities

🌐🌐 The Horizontal (Informal) Economy We use the words ecosystem, community, network, systems, contexts and markets to depict something that, as humans, we intrinsically understand. As professionals however, this isn’t easily to articulate, structure, design, monitor, and control. This is because such words are “horizontal”, and we have been brought up with a “vertical” mindset. FMCG, Energy, Water, Property, Technology – these are all vertical sectors. However, when we brush our teeth, we have a touch point with each of these verticals. Brushing teeth, making tea, going to work – these are horizontal-type contexts that make up part of our informal economy: the work humans do to connect things up informally so that we may live our lives. Read more about the Horizontal (Informal) Economy in Irene Ng's blog post. https://lnkd.in/enxGz-C6

CheckD Data Wallet for Attendance At Dataswyft, we created the CheckD Data Wallet to help everyone understand how they can use their data, starting with simple use-cases like registering attendance! The simplest data – your name and email – can be applied to an “Attendee badge” which can then be used to sign in to events and classes, share your data with the Organizer, instead of writing down the information on a registration sheet. We believe that your name and email, often manually entered on sheets of paper, should be the first data you own and use whenever you choose to do so. Once we learn to be empowered to use the data we own to create value, we can move onto other types of data such as finance and healthcare data and the value they can create. So if you have an event, or have a class of students, consider creating a badge on the CheckD Data Wallet to register attendance. Doing so means you are leading the change to give data back to your attendees and enabling them (and you) to own, use, and share data safely and securely. Setting up an Attendee Badge on the CheckD Data Wallet is really simple, as you can see on this video: https://lnkd.in/eUsC-Rb2 Don’t forget to share this with others and tell us your experience (and how you can help us improve)!
