Welcome to 2025!  Want to improve your chances of AI success this year?  These five steps should set you on the right path. (Yes, this is the exact same list I posted on Cyber Monday. And I'll keep posting it as long as it holds true.  Which will probably be a while …) 1/ Get the leadership team up to speed on AI. Execs who understand what AI can(not) do are in a much better position to decide how the company will use it. 2/ Make a plan. Not only will this add structure to your efforts, it will also tell you when things are going awry. 3/ Get your house in order. All that fancy AI relies on clean, correct data supplied by a solid infrastructure. 4/ Involve your legal and PR teams early. Lawsuits due to allegedly purloined training data can be costly. The same goes for a wave of bad press due to malfunctioning AI bots. 5/ Work with a professional. Someone who has end-to-end experience with AI can dramatically reduce your risk and improve your chances of success. (Photo by BoliviaInteligente on Unsplash)

  • #LLMs like GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, and LLaMA have transformed how we interact with machines, unlocking innovations once thought to be science fiction. Yet, their immense potential comes at a significant computational and environmental cost. In his latest article, Karthik Hubli dives into: 🔹 The key challenges of LLM efficiency (power, memory, and energy). 🔹 Techniques like model pruning, quantization, and knowledge distillation that reduce complexity while maintaining performance. 🔹 Insights on the Lottery Ticket Hypothesis and its role in sparse networks. The road ahead involves balancing accuracy and efficiency—paving the way for models that are powerful, sustainable, and accessible. • 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. In 2015, an automated hiring tool built by a major e-commerce company was scrapped when it systematically discriminated against women and showed racial bias. The reason? A lack of transparency in how the AI made its decisions. With #AI increasingly driving decisions in healthcare, finance, law, and beyond, understanding how models work has never been more critical. This is where Explainable AI (XAI) comes in. In her latest post, Aditi Godbole dives deep into: The what, why, and how of #XAI Core techniques like SHAP, LIME, and visualization tools Challenges in balancing performance and explainability Why XAI is key to #ethicalAI adoption Explore how transparency in AI can prevent bias, build trust, and ensure fairness across industries.
