  • As we look to the new year, we reflect on the past and acknowledge the valuable contributions of our team at Dakota Community Bank & Trust. Today, we are proud to recognize Stacey Nelson's 15-year work milestone and her involvement with both the "Bank & Trust" at Dakota Community. Hailing from New Leipzig, she grew up with a deep understanding of our bank's mission and the value of hometown service. She began as a teller at our Mandan branch, where her ability to connect with customers and her attention to detail led her to the trust department in 2014. Today, as the Trust and Wealth Operations Manager, Stacey goes above and beyond to support both the trust team and clients, by overseeing compliance and tax requirements, new accounts, and trust management systems. As the holiday season approaches, many families will gather and often engage in meaningful, challenging conversations regarding the future. In these times, having someone like Stacey, who respects the hard work and legacies of our customers, is invaluable. Stacey's work embodies the spirit of our trust team, ensuring that clients feel secure and supported, while recognizing the sensitivity of tough decisions of their future. Her incredible journey and steadfast commitment to the Bank & Trust make her an integral part of our family. Join us in congratulating Stacey Nelson for 15 years at Dakota Community Bank & Trust.

  • In December 1989, as Gorbachev and Bush ended the Cold War with a handshake, Madonna was singing about a prayer. As Indiana Jones was on his Last Crusade, Sheila Ferderer began a new crusade at the New Leipzig bank. Fast forward 35 years, and we are proud to celebrate Sheila's commitment and dedication to Dakota Community Bank & Trust. Sheila's career over three decades of banking exemplifies her remarkable dedication and adaptability. She's seen it all, from paper-based transactions to digital platforms, a name change and acquisition in 1992, 10 additional branches, instilled confidence during the 2008 recession scare, and helped weather the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sheila embodies the essence of what makes Dakota Community Bank & Trust unique: employees who value customer relationships through financial ups and downs and the satisfaction of serving multiple generations of customers. Thank you, Sheila, for everything you do, and just like the iconic Phil Collins hit playing on your first day of work, you truly make New Leipzig 'another day in paradise.' Join us in congratulating Sheila Ferderer on an outstanding 35 years of service to the bank and the community. We look forward to many more years to come!

  • In November, our New Account initiative proudly contributed to the 31:8 Project, a dedicated non-profit organization committed to combating human trafficking locally. While human trafficking is a $150 billion industry worldwide, affecting over 30 million people, it's crucial to recognize its impact closer to home. In North Dakota, the Human Trafficking Task Force has served over 760 victims, with 70% being adults and 30% minors. They have investigated 283 cases, with 90% related to sex trafficking, 7% to labor trafficking, and 3% involving both. By supporting the 31:8 Project, we are contributing to a vital cause that brings hope to countless victims and addresses this pressing issue within our own communities. #HumanTrafficking #EndTrafficking #31EightProject #NorthDakota #SocialImpact #CommunitySupport #SpeakUp #VictimSupport #TraffickingAwareness

  • As you prepare for Christmas, remember the value of shopping local . Small businesses are the ones that donate to the youth organizations, buy the new jerseys, sponsor the street dance, buy the raffle tickets, donate to the silent auction, support a community members medical benefit, purchase at the 4H premium sale, volunteer, display the sign, and answer the phone on Sunday when your furnace quit or you're broke down on the side of the road. The strength of a community lies on small businesses. We proudly support our local businesses and thank them for all they do. #ShopLocal #SupportSmallBusiness #LocalBusiness #CommunitySupport #BuyLocal #SmallBizLove #SupportLocal #ShopSmall #LocalEconomy #ChristmasShopping

  • In today’s financial landscape, combating illegal activity is a top priority. One important tool is the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which aims to make it harder for criminals to hide behind anonymous companies known as “shell companies.” As a result, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) created the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting Rule. Check out this video for more information!

  • As of January 1, 2024 through the Corporate Transparency Act, Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting is a crucial regulatory requirement by the U.S. Treasury to combat money laundering, tax evasion, and corruption. This initiative requires companies operating in the United States to disclose information about the individuals who truly own or control them, thereby enhancing accountability. By identifying the real owners behind legal entities such as corporations, trusts, or partnerships, authorities can better track illicit financial activities. As a bank, we want to ensure our small business customers are aware of these requirements and can avoid potential legal issues. Contrary to common myths, BOI reporting is not limited to large corporations; it can apply to small and medium-sized businesses in our community. Business that qualify are required to register prior to Jan 1, 2025. To learn more go to https://www.fincen.gov/boi
