Dream, design, shape, repeat. That’s what we do in Connecticut. We invent. We build. Even if we’re just making happy lives. We’re makers. It’s why we came here, and why we’re here for good. We make everything from high-tech helicopters and jet engines to the nation's best pizza. We're hard at work on scientific breakthroughs in medicine and aerospace even as we speak. Even if you're not a maker in the traditional sense, think again, because you are. Teachers and homemakers are crucial to Connecticut because the most important "thing" we make is our people. They're our competitive advantage. That's why we invest billions in our schools, our communities, and their safety. Connecticut is one of the best places on the planet for building a family, a business, or living out a dream. So let’s keep dreaming, designing, shaping, and repeating up a storm until we come up with something incredible yet again. What will you make next? Connecticut. Make it here.

🎉🔥 Big congrats to Chef Renee Touponce of Mystic’s Oyster Club & Port of Call for making culinary history! Her mouthwatering empanadas just landed on the New York Times’ Best Dishes in America 2024 list. Yes, they're that good! In her own words, “Elevate it. Stay true to who you are, but make it innovative and different.” Influenced by her Puerto Rican roots, Renee reimagines classic recipes with bold, unforgettable flavors. Her empanadas are more than a dish—they’re a delicious tribute to heritage, family, and the kind of fearless creativity that is at home in CT. Connecticut’s food scene is on fire—come taste why! #Connecticut #MakeItHere #Foodie #Creativity #Innovation

🍕💧🔥 I’ve always believed food is more than just a meal—it’s a shared experience built on collaboration, creativity, and community. It brings people together in ways that go beyond the plate. That’s why I’m excited about H2Dough, a collaboration between Connecticut icons Modern Apizza, Armada Brewing, and New Haven Pizza Club. This unique product isn’t just a clever idea—it’s a powerful expression of what makes Connecticut special: craftsmanship, innovation, and state pride. By combining their talents, these local legends created something that’s pure Connecticut—and ready to be shared with the world. Yesterday’s launch in New Haven was a celebration of what happens when passionate people come together, and I’m proud to have been a small part of it. This isn’t just about pizza—it’s about making Connecticut’s story unforgettable. Stay tuned for more epic pizza collaborations like this coming from the Pizza State! I guarantee they won't disappoint. https://lnkd.in/ev5C3gDH #Connecticut #MakeItHere #Pizza #TheNationsBestPizza #PizzaCapitaloftheUS

Over 100 brownfield stakeholders - town officials, developers, environmental consultants and lawyers, state agency folks etc. - converged at CT DECD's offices last Friday, to participate in the 2024 Annual Brownfields Networking Event. The participants enjoyed an interesting and thought-provoking panel discussion on the "Changing Market Trends in CT and Impacts on Brownfield Redevelopment." Deputy Commissioner Matthew J Pugliese, the panel moderator, did an excellent job throwing hardball questions to the panel that included Hon. Senator Joan Hartley (D-Waterbury); Karmen Cheung, Senior Developer, Pennrose, LLC; David Kooris, Executive Director, CT Municipal Redevelopment Authority (MRDA); Dale Kroop, Founder & ED, New Colony Development Corporation; and Bob Labanara, Business Development Manager, Gilbane Building Co., as they discussed how the real estate market in Connecticut has changed since the COVID years. One of the event highlights was a presentation from Jessica Vonashek, ED, Manresa Island Corporation, who walked the audience through the Manresa Island Park Project in Norwalk CT - a transformative redevelopment story of a decommissioned power plant that is proposed to be converted to a publicly accessible park reconnecting the community to the waterfront. DEEP officials (Graham Stevens and Brendan Schain) also gave the stakeholders an update on the timeline and next steps for the Release Based Cleanup Regulations roll out. If you missed this year's event, here is a recording: https://lnkd.in/gnEUDmZ2 Thanks to the DECD Brownfields Team, especially Almariet Roberts and Michael Wieliczka who took the heavy lift of organizing the event. It was super gratifying for the OBRD Team to be able to meet some of our clients in person. Thanks to all the organizations that set up informational tables for the participants (DEEP Remediation Division, CT Green Bank, UConn TAB Program, DECD - SHPO, Small Business, Tourism, Manufacturing). This is our second year... so it is slowly becoming an annual tradition. Please be sure to sign up early next year!
🚨 BIG News🚨 Connecticut is on the map — again! Litchfield County, CT has been named one of the Best Places to Visit in the US in 2025 by Condé Nast Traveler! 🏆 This recognition follows numerous national and international accolades over the last couple years, ranging from New Haven being named a top global destination by the The New York Times to Ore Hill and Swyft being named a top restaurant. These different points of recognition are more than a travel recommendations —they’re proof that Connecticut is a destination where people can thrive. From stunning landscapes and world-class dining to vibrant arts and a growing economy, our state is a quality place to visit, live, and build a career. #MakeItHere #Connecticut
There are many reasons why CT was ranked the #1 state in the nation for hiking. The tick lobby was not one of them 😉
Was it, in fact, the "tick lobbyists" who secured our ranking as the #1 state for hiking in the US (as one Reddit thread claims)? 🧐😂 I can't confirm or deny their influence, but as an avid hiker, I can confirm this: no matter where you are in Connecticut right now, you're just 15 minutes away from a state park. Having lived in Colorado, I know what it's like to chase beautiful vistas and views. But Connecticut offers me something just as special—accessibility and a diversity of terrains. Hills, forests, shoreline, we’ve got a little bit of everything, and it’s all a stones throw away. Big thanks to our friends at CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for the care they put into these parks. Get out and explore this winter, and keep an eye out for my hand-drawn hiking boot sketch in future CT marketing projects. 🥾
