In the breakout room discussion, he offered insights into how CC licenses play into the intellectual property/copyright/plagiarism questions presented by generative AI. We record the lightning talks (see below!) but you have to join us live to dive deeper and network in the breakout rooms. Don't miss the sessions this year! ➡ https://lnkd.in/gheMwMbN

The resources that were generated in this first EdTech Maker Space are now being added to SkillBlox as part of our new feature, Stax!! Stax allows instructors to create thematic pages containing sets of Blox around a topic, unit of study, or as is the case in the example shared here, a set of leveled readers all at the same level that can be shared with learners as is and adapted by instructors! Check out our Stax that includes 62 readers at Level A, and be on the lookout for Levels B-D in the coming months! https://lnkd.in/gdTfN62a
Four years ago, in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis - a time when educators were clamoring for guidance on how to continue learning through educational technology - CrowdED Learning launched our very first Ed Tech Maker Space. This service learning based professional development opportunity engaged 44 educators in a shared journey of a) building their skills in strategically leveraging edtech tools to support their learners, and then b) applying those skills to create open and adaptable digital resources that could increase independent reading opportunities for learners using Reading Skills for Adults, an openly licensed set of leveled readers. Recently, as part of an update to SkillBlox, we began moving these resources onto the platform - including the 345 Google Forms reading comprehension quizzes participants created in that first ETMS. In doing this task, I discovered that these quizzes have been taken over 27,000 times by learners! This week is National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, dedicated to raising awareness of the pivotal role of adult education in enabling equitable access to societal resources, employment opportunity, and full participation in community life. As we spread the word to raise visibility and funding for adult education, let us please push to ensure we invest in our TEACHERS! Over the past four years, I have had the amazing opportunity to meet so many incredibly dedicated educators through EdTech Maker Spaces, who collectively have helped us put thousands of free and open educational resources into the hands of adult learners, at the same time building their own skills to better equip their learners for a digital world where lifelong learning is required. We can have so much more impact when we work together and invest in STAFF, not STUFF. Thank you, adult educators, for all that you do 👏📚👏💻👏💪 #AEFLWEEK, #AEFLWEEK2024 #openeducation #oer
