The organizing agencies also outlined their concrete commitments for the coming year, emphasizing tangible steps toward regional advancement. Here are some highlights: 💼 CARICHAM: The Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce Deliver capacity-building training in collaboration with Teleios Systems Limited and Apex Academy in particular for SMEs. 🌐 ARIN Renewed its commitment to continued collaboration with partners like CAJS and CaribNOG to deliver impactful programs like the recently concluded Caribbean Law Enforcement Leaders Symposium. ⚖️ The Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions Committed to convene a stakeholder forum focused on critical support functions for example bailiffs, clerks to give them a forum to offer their valuable input in improving justice delivery. 📊 Caribbean Telecommunications Union Work closely with Caribbean governments to accelerate the establishment of 21st Century Governments in the region. These commitments go beyond aspirations or promises—they are fully developed, actionable plans that have already been approved, many of which are either in the implementation phase or actively rolling out. Here’s a summary: 💰 Moderated by the dynamic Petipha Lewis, Talk 4 Action Roundtable II: Supporting Caribbean SMEs: Financing, Investments and Trade Facilitation highlighted the challenges and actions needed to support SME growth. ▪️Omar Burch-Smith (Regional CIS Manager, UTC) highlighted innovative financial solutions offered by Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation to support SME growth. ▪️Peggy Ann Brandon (President, St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce) emphasized the importance of collective purchasing power. ▪️Darryl Smith(Consul, Trade and Investments, Trinidad and Tobago) urged others to follow the example of T&T and strategically place a dedicated trade consul to drive global trade of domestic products. 🫱 🫲 Partners in Action: Collaborating for Digital Resilience, moderated by Tony Regisford brought together two stalwarts of internet protocol that led attendees through an insightful presentation of data related to the Caribbean's IPV4 and 6 adoption. ▪️ Nate Davis (Senior Government Affairs Analyst, ARIN), highlighted ARIN's capacity building work in the region and renewed ARIN's offer of continued support of the business community. Morning Highlights: The Business Forum at Connected Caribbean Summit🌟 What an incredible morning! The four sessions were filled with insightful discussions. The morning's feature session by Omo Igiehon (CEO, Portals Global) and Eric Sawyer really set the tone for the rest of the day. The key take away that was repeated across sessions was the need for maturity in business. This single point really resonated with participants as a key pillar of business success across small, medium and large enterprises. Additionally, Petipha Lewis, MBA urged everyone to not wait on governments to take action on behalf for the private sector. She echoed Omo Igiehon sentiments that competence goes both ways and businesses have to exercise their strengths.
