CONFERS is the not-for-profit independent global trade association servicing the satellite servicing industry.
About us
The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS) is the not-for-profit, independent global trade association developing industry-led standards and guiding international policies for satellite servicing that contribute to a sustainable, safe, and diverse space economy. An industry-led initiative, CONFERS identifies and leverages best practices from government and industry for rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), on-orbit satellite servicing (OOS) operations, and in-space assembly, servicing, and manufacturing (ISAM). Through collaboration with its world-wide membership of industry and government space experts and stakeholders, CONFERS benefits the global satellite servicing industry (which includes, but is not limited to maintenance, repair, assembly, manufacturing, and inspection within the space domain extending from low-earth orbit to cislunar and beyond) by building common understanding between developers, operators, customers, investors, insurers, and government policy makers while protecting commercial participants’ financial and strategic interests. Dues-based membership is open to participation by stakeholders from the global ISAM, OOS and RPO community, including supplier and client companies, universities, government agencies and non-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

CONFERS’ 7th Global Satellite Servicing Forum & Exhibition (GSSF&E) was terrific! In addition to wonderful people, a great atmosphere and effective networking, we are happy to share the news from the space industry's premier event for space infrastructure and operations: 🚀 195 registrants from 15 countries and 102 organizations spent two content-packed days hearing global experts deliver In-Space Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM)-centric presentations covering insurance and risk management, RPO safety, the latest in on-orbit refueling, domestic and international regulatory regimes, and spectrum allocation, to name but a few of the issues covered in 31 general session keynotes, panels, a fireside chat and interactive Space Infrastructure Games challenging ISAM’s technology and business aspects. 🚀 Three Volunteer Service Recognition Awards were given (see previous post) 🚀 CONFERS’s accomplishment over the last 12 months were presented, including new industry-developed recommendations for standards submitted and published, legislative and regulatory responses, and other work conducted by its member-based committees and task forces 🚀 In addition to plenty of peer-to-peer networking opportunities, this year’s event included a new table-top exhibition 🚀 We had and will intensify great “CONFERSations”! Thanks to all for coming! CONFERS' membership is approaching 100 organizations from around the world, and we will continue to expand the scope of our activities and services to the global ISAM community in 2025, intensifying the dialogue with stakeholders internationally. #GSSF&E #ISAM Brian Lagana Joerg Kreisel Jon Beam Brien Flewelling Joe Anderson Chris Blackerby David A Barnhart Vanessa Clark Adam Harris Tim Maclay Brian Weeden

CONFERS Recognizes Its Volunteer Leaders The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS | The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations) – the independent, global, non-profit trade association fostering the satellite servicing industry – recently recognized the valuable contributions made by three individual volunteers from CONFERS member companies. Presented with Volunteer Service Recognition Awards at CONFERS recent Global Satellite Servicing Forum & Exhibition (GSSF&E) were: Ron Birk , The Aerospace Corporation: served as Co-Chair of CONFERS Technical Committee for four years, and is now rotating out of the leadership role, while remaining engaged with the committee. During Ron’s tenure as Co-Chair, CONFERS delivered numerous recommendations for standards development, and has grown the scope of work of the committee – now with four task forces under its purview. Chris Blackerby, Astroscale Holdings: recently completed three years as CONFERS President, seeing the organization transition from DARPA to an independent global trade association with members in 15 counties. Chris remains active as Immediate Past President, a consultative role to provide the Board with continuity during leadership transitions. Victor Nifo, MDA Space: As Chair of CONFERS Power and Data Interfaces Task Force, Victor led the group to the successful completion of its scope of work, with significant recommendations submitted in July to AIAA for development into voluntary consensus standards. Victor continues to liaise with AIAA as the recommendations work their way through the development process, and was recently appointed Co-Chair of CONFERS Technical Committee. It’s through the dedication of time, talent and resources from these three volunteers and the many more like them, that makes CONFERS the independent global trade association developing industry-led recommendations for standards and guiding international policies for satellite servicing that contribute to a sustainable, safe and diverse space economy! #ISAM #satelliteservicing #standards #GSSF&E Brian Lagana Jon Beam Joerg Kreisel

Thank you Chad for your comments on CONFERS GSSF&E. We hope everyone who attended had the same positive experience.
Throughout my 2 days at CONFERS | The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations, I gained a greater understanding of how a vibrant ISAM market could enable new approaches to space utilization such as dynamic military space operations, in-space resource utilization (ISRU), and a circular space economy of recycle and reuse. It was a pleasure meeting prominent members of the community such as Brian Weeden, Andres Permuy , Audrey L. Allison, and Joe Anderson, as well as and catching up with familiar faces like Dennis Wille and OSC's Dr. Dianne Poster. I am excited for the future of ISAM + in-space infrastructure, and could not be more grateful for my time at CONFERS 2024!
