Today is #GivingTuesday and that means today is our chance to do something incredible for our community. All gifts will be MATCHED for DOUBLE in impact up to $50,000! Last year, 570 people gave to our Giving Tuesday Drive. The need for food here in New Jersey isn’t slowing down, so to help keep up this holiday season, an anonymous donor will give $10,000 more if, as a community, we can beat last year’s total and 600 generous supporters chip in this year. That $10,000 could be 30,000 meals — and 30,000 opportunities to bring joy to your New Jersey community this holiday season. Please make your most generous gift today: https://lnkd.in/eQt3Yd4U

Today, CFBNJ President & CEO Elizabeth McCarthy volunteered side by side with New Jersey Department of Agriculture Secretary Ed Wengryn at the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, NJ, giving out Thanksgiving food to our neighbors. It's going to take ALL of us to end hunger - from nonprofits to companies to government changemakers! The Food Bank Network of Somerset County is one of CFBNJ's largest community partners, servicing more than 32,000 visits per year through its seven locations. And we at CFBNJ are grateful to the Secretary, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Governor Phil Murphy, Speaker Craig Coughlin, and the New Jersey Office of the Food Security Advocate for the critical funding that they provide for our mission.

Did you know? 1 in 9 veterans in the U.S. is food insecure. Low incomes, trouble finding work, and physical and mental impacts of their time in the military are some of the most common reasons why they may struggle to put food on the table. Our friends at WCBS | CBS New York visited CFBNJ and one of our partner senior box sites in honor of #VeteransDay to help shed light on this critical issue.

Happy #VeteransDay! Today, we pause to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the extraordinary individuals who have served in the armed forces. At CFBNJ, we are proud to have team members among us who have made this sacrifice. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness have safeguarded our nation and continue to inspire and strengthen our work here at the FoodBank. Please take a moment to help us extend a special salute to our CFBNJ veterans!

CFBNJ President & CEO Elizabeth McCarthy, along with three of our staff and board members who live in Summit, accepted a Mayoral Proclamation from Summit Mayor Elizabeth Fagan last night in honor and memory of CFBNJ Founder Kathleen DiChiara. The document declares 11/6/24 Kathleen DiChiara Day. Kathleen was a long-time resident of Summit and began her lifetime of service there when she organized a weekly food collection at her church. CFBNJ is honored by this meaningful tribute to her legacy.
