Updates

  • The final community partner we are amplifying in December is Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. Here's what she has to say: “Unum Group is a long-time supporter of the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, from hosting escort stops and packing goody bags in their Portland, Maine, office to providing grants to support wreath placement in communities where their employees live and work. It is all making a difference.” Our holiday giving initiative is our final push of every year to share our caring spirit with our local communities. No matter the day of the year, supporting others is at the core of everything we do here at Unum Group.

  • Kevin "C.K." Hyde, CEO of Partnership for Families, Children and Adults is the third of our community partners we are amplifying throughout December. Here's what he has to say: "We're honored to partner with Unum Group for our Holiday Cheer Gift Drive, which brings joy to more than 200 families during the holiday season. The generosity of Unum Group employees helps our most vulnerable population during the holiday season and supports our Youth Homeless Program, Camp HOPE, Elder Services, Generations Stronger, Deaf Services and our Domestic Violence Shelter. Thank you for helping to provide safety, stability, and hope to our community." For our 25th anniversary of the Holiday Cheer Gift Drive, our employees shared their caring spirit and personally spent nearly $70,000 to purchase 1,000 gifts to donate to more than 300 individuals. We're proud to support our local communities every day, including the holiday season.

  • Michelle Ouellette, Lead Soldier & Family Readiness Specialist from Maine Army National Guard is the second of our community partners we are amplifying throughout December. Here's what they have to say: "The Unum Group baskets provide a feast for 45 families, which is about 270 individuals facing daily challenges securing meals. This generous donation positively impacts families across the state of Maine and ensures financial stability to alleviate the difficult choice between food and other essentials." Our annual Holiday Giving Initiative is one of four main initiatives that put our caring spirit into action every year.

  • Beth Williams, President and CEO of Epworth Children's Home is the first of our community partners we are amplifying throughout December. Here's what she has to say: "For a decade, Unum and Colonial Life have provided resources for programs that meet the needs of children, youth and families in South Carolina. Epworth is grateful for our long-standing partnership and Colonial Life and Unum's commitment to improving lives in South Carolina, which includes giving children who call Epworth home the joy of Christmas each year. Their support allows staff to give their time and purchase, wrap and deliver gifts to our residents." Through our annual Holiday Giving Initiative, our employees continue to showcase their caring spirit and make a positive difference in the communities we call home.

  • And the 2024 CEO Community Award winners are… Gail Gagnon, Lindsey Lehoux, Jeffrey Look, Rebecca McMullin, Gareth Pugh, and Alicia Spence! These employees have received our highest level of recognition from our CEO, Rick McKenney, for positively impacting their communities and demonstrating their caring spirit by giving their time and talents to a charitable cause. At Unum Group, serving others is central to who we are as a company, and recognizing individuals who make an outstanding contribution to others and our communities is an important part of our business. Congratulations!

  • In this season of gratitude, #TeamUnum has been busy giving back by volunteering at numerous local organizations. Some Customer Contact Center team members packed resiliency kits for the United Way of the Midlands . At Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services P.A.A.L.S., we visited with some pups while cleaning and fixing up their play yard. In Portland and Worcester, employees worked with Habitat for Humanity to put the finishing touches on new home builds. Finally, a group wrote letters for the Wounded Warrior Project. #EmbraceGratitude

  • In honor of Veterans Day, employees across all our campuses came together to support veterans in need by donating new gloves, hats, jackets, and blankets. In Baton Rouge, we partnered with Blue Star Moms of Louisiana to add a personal touch by writing heartfelt cards of gratitude for veterans. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we worked with the Maine National Guard to put together and deliver meals for military families. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making a difference! #VeteransDay
