After 4 years of trial and error, I scaled my team to over 25 people this week. I will be sharing the 5 most valuable lessons I learned the hard way that you can learn for free. 1️⃣ Have a sense of direction but get comfortable with improvising If you’re like me, cursed (or blessed) with an analytical mind you’ll want to apply whatever framework that’s currently doing the rounds in popular business books. Bullet journaling, mind maps, Evernote, monthly/quarterly strategies. Put them all in the bin. ♻ Funnily enough I started to make the most progress when I stopped bullet journalling. 📈 I used to spend up to 30 minutes every day meticulously reflecting back on the day just gone, and planning the tasks for the next day. Nowadays, I simply tick things off a never ending todo list that I keep in my Slack DMs. I put any urgent tasks at the top. Some items never get checked off as they slip through my todo list and consciousness into obscurity. You should become comfortable with the idea that if something can be forgotten about, then it was never worthwhile to spend time on anyway.
