According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), fraudulent claims have risen by 4% since 2023, with exaggerated loss claims leading the pack at an astonishing £407 million. Insurance Fraud Bureau director, Ursula Jallow, commented: “With a rise in detected fraudulent insurance applications and claims, it’s never been more important to raise awareness about the impacts of insurance fraud.” With 230 fraudulent claims detected daily, the UK insurance industry continues to work with law enforcement to combat fraud and protect policyholders. #FraudStatistics #InsuranceFraud #ABI #FraudPrevention

Crash for cash scams that target innocent drivers are becoming a significant issue in the UK. To combat this and other surging fraud claims, the UK insurance sector has launched a new voluntary fraud charter with the Home Office and other endorsers. Charter meetings will “bring together government departments, law enforcement, regulators, private sector and victim groups to strengthen the response to fighting fraud and better protect the public.” This crackdown hopes to close loopholes in the market, enhance collaboration and support victims.
