Explaining graphic file requirements to a client with limited graphic experience can be like explaining the earth's curvature to a flat earther. The more you explain why an image from their website won't work, the more defensive they become. To them, a graphic is a graphic -- just make it bigger. 🦣 𝐈𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫? To be fair, the concept of vector vs. raster files isn't always intuitive. Then there’s the discussion of the graphic file types. Bottomline... You've told them their file isn't a high-resolution image. But they still don't understand. 🧮 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 Years ago, we added an Image Resolution Calculator to Classic's website to make this concept more understandable. It relies on three variables: Size, Pixels, and Dpi. Size is obvious since it's measured in inches. Pixels and DPI less so to a non-graphic savvy client. https://lnkd.in/gkqpu9Xk Fortunately, you have graphic design software ranging from basic photo apps to professional programs like Photoshop or Illustrator. Opening their low-resolution file on those, and then comparing it to what's required in the Image Resolution Calculator is an easy way to demonstrate what they have vs. what they need. 🤞 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 They still may toss out a "flat earther" graphic objection, but you've at least gotten them to recognize they'll need the assistance of a graphic designer. Did you know that anyone can learn to juggle three balls? Yes, it takes a little time and basic talent, but it's an easy skill to learn. Usually within a few days. But what if you want to juggle more than 3 balls? Say 6-7? That's a bigger commitment. It may require lessons, special balls, and months and months of practice. 𝐉𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 Many of you are setting your goals for 2025. You want to grow your business without sacrificing service, design, or margins. That requires keeping a lot of balls in the air which can be challenging. Yesterday, I was chatting with a Classic Distributor who had already defined his 2025 goals. They were aggressive, very aggressive, and I said to him, "Are those goals realistic given your current resources?" He said, "I can have it all, but I can't do it all. For my business to achieve my goals, I'll need vendor partners to juggle the balls that I can't. Sure, I can add resources (and may), but I’ve learned adding is easier than subtracting. Frankly, I’m tired of subtracting every time there’s an economic hiccup. I’d much rather rely on the resources of my vendor partners. My margins are better, along with my overall quality of life.” 𝐁𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 As you set your goals for 2025, be aggressive. You can have it all.
