About us
The City of Miami Beach was incorporated on March 26, 1915. Miami Beach operates on a commission/city manager form of government. The commission consists of a mayor and six commissioners who serve as the policy-making body of the city. The city manager ensures that policies, directives, resolutions and ordinances adopted by the city commission are enforced and implemented. The city manager is also charged with the daily operations of the city. Through fiscal prudence and good leadership, the city’s journey to excellence is guided by its mission, vision and strategic plan that is making Miami Beach a better place to live, work and play. With Biscayne Bay to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the City of Miami Beach is not just a favorite for international and domestic visitors but for a growing residential population too. The cosmopolitan island city, just 7.1 square miles, is everything that is cool and hot.

The latest issue of MB magazine is out now! Here's a sneak peek of what's inside the fall 2024 issue. This year marked the 80th anniversary of the largest amphibious invasion in military history — the day the Allies began to take back Europe during World War II and put an end to Nazi tyranny. What many people may not know is that Miami Beach played an essential role in preparing hundreds of thousands of troops that came to Miami Beach during the war years to train in our hotels and beaches as you’ll read in “Paradise at War” on page 18. A little-known team of excellence assessors is one of the secrets why Miami Beach is such a clean city compared to others that host millions of visitors. Most people never see them because much of their work is performed undercover as you’ll discover in “Psst: It’s a Secret” on page 22. Art Week Miami Beach from December 2-8 marks a homecoming for artist Jen Stark, who got her start in South Beach. Read more on page 38 in “Elevate Española Brings Homecoming for South Beach Artist." Please remember to vote on Tuesday, November 5. You'll find a special election guide on page 50. Read the full issue: https://lnkd.in/eWWd5jeC

Meet Luis Fuentes – founder and owner of Cafe Avanti, an Italian restaurant located at 732 W 41 Street. After moving to the United States from Cuba, Luis opened his restaurant in Miami Beach in 1989. Over the past 35 years, Luis has embraced the Miami Beach community and says his customers are some of the best and most loyal in the world. As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re so happy to have people like Luis as part of the fabric of our city.
