  • Two new St. Peters police officers are making a big difference in their hometown – but they’re doing it on four legs instead of two! K-9s Audie and Atila, along with their partners Officers Welschmeyer and Kitrel, have been honing their skills at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Training Center. Over the last eight weeks, they’ve come a long way, getting to know and work with each other. Before long, they’ll be out on patrol, making a positive impact in the community. (about K-9 Audie) “I feel like we pair well together. I would say from the very beginning.” – Officer Welschmeyer “It's more than just a dog on the end of a leash and walking him around. You're watching anything from his detections to his clues or what he may be giving off or indications and alerts…everything.” – Officer Kitrel Anyone can be a Difference Maker St. Peters, it doesn’t matter how many legs you have! • Meet Brett. He’s always known St. Peters as “My Hometown!” Brett grew up here, and now he’s a hashtag #DifferenceMaker on our Streets Department team, working on the same roads he knew as a kid. “I take a lot of pride in what I do,” Brett says. “It’s awesome to be able to provide the community that I grew up in with that level of service.” Brett helps Lead the Way with other members of the Streets team…they meet weekly to develop leadership skills. They know that personal growth is a life-long project. Watch the video to see how Brett is making a difference for our community and his own life.

  • Imagine blending your passion with your career. That’s the opportunity that was recently seized by one of our “Difference Makers!” Shannon has dedicated nearly 29 years to the City, collecting recycling and trash, but he also has a love for creating art. He has designed everything from motorcycles to catchers’ helmets.   When he was given the chance to revamp the USO Pennies for Patriots’ aluminum can donation bin at Recycle City, he eagerly took on the project. Drawing inspiration from our nation's veterans, he transformed the bin into a stunning tribute.   “I think any veteran when they pull in the parking lot and they see something like that it should just show that they do have that respect and that was kind of what it was all about.”   Whether it’s a skill, talent, or passion, 60,000 people are relying on you. • “We’re here. We have your back. We appreciate everything you do for our department.” “You are such a great leader and you’re doing the hard stuff.” These are messages that members of our Environmental Services team wanted their group manager Elliot to hear. Over the last few months, Elliot has presented the future of recycling in St. Peters to the Board of Aldermen … and his team has shown up over and over to support him. The new program will make recycling easier for our 60,000 residents, better for our team at Recycle City, and more affordable for our community. “It was important to me to be there, so he knew he wasn’t doing this alone.” “Thank you is not even enough.” It’s great when you know that your hard work has paid off … it’s priceless when your team has your back and shows that they appreciate you. • Ever heard of anyone “being in the right place at the right time?” That describes the moment Amy met Ninja, a dog in desperate need of help.   Malnourished and living with an owner who couldn’t properly care for him, Ninja was rescued and re-homed. In his new environment, he excelled and became not just a top frisbee disk and dock diving champion, but a deeply loved family member.   With Ninja and Amy, they were both placed in the right environment that allowed them to grow.   Do you want to take a journey with a team of Difference Makers? Apply today!   60,000 people are counting on you!

  • When you find a career that fits your life, you can truly Make a Difference. Officer Blattel thought he wanted to be an accountant. The closer he got to graduation for his CPA, he realized it wasn’t the right fit. “I kind of figured out … I don't know that I want to sit behind a desk every day.” Instead, he found his calling with the City of St. Peters Police Department, where Officer Blattel was recently named “Officer of the Quarter” for all he does for our community. “If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t make any changes,” he said. Are you Making a Difference? Would you like to join our Difference Makers at the City of St. Peters? Apply today at www.stpetersmo.net/jobs. 60,000 people are counting on you!

As a fire inspector, he worked closely with St. Peters inspectors, making friends with people who are now his co-workers.   In his second career, Brian examines plans for buildings and inspects the progress along the way.   “I get to solve a lot of people’s problems just by answering some phone calls or going and visiting them.”   Find your first or next career as an #STPDifferenceMaker. 60,000 people need YOU!
