  • From Braves Pitcher to Community Leader "Every day we are able to give back to the community," said Jon Rogers, Deputy Director of Parks and Rec. It's the aspect of his job he enjoys the most. Looking ahead to 2025, Jon is excited about the events the department has planned. "We are hoping to make them the biggest and best events yet," he shared. “We also want to attract visitors from outside the area, showcasing what the city has to offer.” You might recognize Jon from his impressive sports career. Before dedicating his life to public service, he was a pitcher in the Atlanta Braves organization for four years. Back in his high school days, Jon was a key player in the football team at Lee High School where he helped lead them to back-to-back State Championships.

  • New Year, New Driving Range Ratliff Ranch Golf Links has given its driving range a facelift. This overhaul now makes the driving range look and feel like the rest of the course. “Some of it was aesthetic. Getting the top to match the terrain and turf of the rest of the golf course was a huge priority, but maintenance costs—not only for the range balls, but for the maintenance carts and other equipment we drive on the range—were also a factor,” said Jesse Ely, the General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Ratliff Ranch. The range is expected to be fully operational by Spring 2025! Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gN35_74A
