🌟 Weekly Round-Up: Spreading Joy, Celebrating Achievements, and Welcoming New Officers! 🌟 This week in Memphis was filled with holiday cheer, creative projects, and remarkable accomplishments: Meals and Stockings for Families: The Memphis Housing Authority handed out meals and stockings to 300 families in need at the Renasant Convention Center, bringing warmth and joy to our community. 🎁🍴 OCCE Feature: Demarcus Suggs, our Office of Creative & Cultural Economy Director, joined Tonya Dyson on WXYR's Welcome to Neosoulville segment to discuss the creative and cultural opportunities shaping Memphis. 🎤🎶 MPD Graduation: Congratulations to the 32 new officers of the Memphis Police Department 145th Basic Recruit Class! Hosted at Bellevue Baptist Church, these officers are now ready to hit the streets with their Field Training Officers. 🚔🎓 Snow Globe Crafting: The Lucille McWherter Senior Center hosted a snow globe-making event, where members designed their own unique creations in this highly anticipated and fun-filled project. ❄️🖌️ Golf Professional of the Year: Sean McFetridge, PGA Facility Manager at the Links at Galloway, was named the 2024 West Tennessee Chapter PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year! 🌟 Weekly Round-Up: Elevating Voices, Prioritizing Safety, and Honoring Community Stewardship! 🌟 This week in Memphis was filled with meaningful discussions, impactful workshops, and community-driven initiatives: Artists Listening Session: Mayor Young and newly appointed Creative & Cultural Economy Director, Demarcus Suggs, hosted a dialogue with local artists, listening to their experiences and discussing ways to support and grow Memphis’s vibrant arts community. 🎨🗣️ NOVPN Workshop: The National Offices of Violence Prevention Network facilitated a two-day workshop with 54 organizations, hosted by The Joint Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement, to analyze the strengths and needs of our community and build a safer 901. 🏘️🤝 Safety Action Plan Meeting: The City of Memphis Engineering Department invited residents to share input on road safety, working together to create a Safety Action Plan aimed at reducing roadway fatalities and making our streets safer for everyone. 🚦👷♂️ Winchester Park Adoption: A big thank you to Rodney Black and his cohort of adopters for committing to the care of Winchester Park! The information gathered is used to map a community’s assets, needs, and aspirations, ensuring that they remain paramount when a new program is designed, priorities are set, and strategic decisions are made.
