  • Congratulations to Justin Brown, a lifeguard at the North Greenwood Recreation & Aquatic Complex. He was recognized recently with the Clearwater Police Department's Samaritan Award for his role in helping to save the life of a child at the pool. On Aug. 3 of this year, he was working as a lifeguard when he noticed a young child having trouble in the water. Brown pulled the child out and began performing lifesaving measures while directing another lifeguard to call 911. According to medical staff at the hospital, had it not been for his quick actions, the child could have suffered serious injury or death. Thank you for your amazing efforts!

  • Rebuilding Smarter for Clearwater’s Resilience On Nov. 16, the City of Clearwater hosted a community meeting to discuss the FEMA 50% Rule, an essential guideline for rebuilding after hurricanes. 🏠 Key Takeaways: ✔️ If repair costs equal or exceed 50% of a structure’s pre-damage value, it must meet FEMA floodplain standards and the Florida Building Code. ✔️ Compliance enhances community safety, lowers insurance costs, and ensures long-term resilience. ✔️ Property owners will receive determination letters outlining next steps in the Substantial Damage Estimate (SDE) process. Clearwater is committed to building back stronger, safer, and more prepared for the future.
