Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman will host a "Meet with Mayor Mike" Town Meeting from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Aurora Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway. Meeting topics will include updates on the Lowry/Colfax corridor and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, crime statistics and Aurora Police Department Initiatives, and the HEART Court. To kick off 2025, the city of Aurora is offering extra special event pricing for electronics recycling for residents (no business customers) at Techno Rescue (the city's e-cycling partner), 3251 Lewiston St., Suite 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 6 to 10, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 11. Most electronic items—desktop computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, gaming equipment, consumer electronics and similar—are accepted. Each carload is free, along with LCD monitors and floor model printers. Cash or debit/credit card is preferred as payment. To address the rising costs associated with processing select electronics, the following additional fees will be applied to recycle these items: • Flat screen TV (LCD/LED; all sizes): $10 each • CRT monitors/CRT TVs (all sizes): $20 each • Console, projection or DLP TVs: $40 each • Certified data destruction with certificate: $5 per hard drive/data-containing device For a list of items NOT accepted, visit https://zurl.co/WlIm1 . Techno Rescue, which is certified for electronics recycling and data destruction, wipes and physically destroys all data storage media to protect the identities of those who are recycling responsibly. Starting Wednesday, Jan. 1, the following age regulations will be enforced at all city of Aurora recreation centers to enhance the experience and ensure the safety of all guests. Facilities, gyms and pools: - Children ages 6 and younger require a parent or guardian. - Children ages 7 to 9 require a guardian 12 years or older. - Children ages 10 and older are allowed without supervision. Also starting Wednesday, Jan. 1, adult membership fees for city recreation centers will increase. For adult members enrolled in EZ Pay, the fee increase will take effect starting Saturday, Feb. 1. This adjustment ensures the city can continue delivering high-quality facilities, services and programs to residents while addressing rising costs in operations, maintenance, administrative support, renovations and capital improvements.
