Christian is an associate at Christian & Barton, LLP where he assists clients with electricity, natural gas, water, telecommunications, cable television, and other public utility regulatory matters. Get to know a little more about him! What is your favorite thing about practicing in Richmond? 🔹The legal community. I feel very fortunate to practice in a community that understands the importance of congeniality, respect, and professionalism. What is the most rewarding part about your current role? 🔹I practice public utility and energy law at the State Corporation Commission. This work impacts most people living in Virginia. My relationship with my colleagues and our ability to work together, even while disagreeing, is very rewarding. What is the best advice you've ever received? 🔹Own up to your mistakes. Probably strange to include here, but I got this advice very early in my professional career before I became a lawyer. Holding yourself accountable helps prevent mistakes and errors but also improves your credibility with your colleagues. If you could tell your law student-self one thing, what would it be? 🔹In 10 years, you’ll still be in Richmond! When I first moved here in 2014, I thought I would be here for three years. I moved to Richmond to come to law school, I got a beautiful life in return. What does your perfect weekend off look like? 🔹A hike down at the river with my daughter, an Arsenal win, a little bit of mandolin, and a big meal with family and friends. Favorite Richmond restaurant? 🔹My all-time favorite, the Broken Tulip, closed a few years ago. Nothing has quite filled the void yet, but it's hard to say no to a trip to Balkan Restaurant or Café Rustika.
