Exciting news! 🗞 Thanks to your incredible support, the Colonial Lake revitalization has been fully funded! This milestone allows us to fast-track our horticultural enhancements, with completion set for Fall 2025. Horticultural installations are focused on introducing a diverse plant species to enrich the ecosystem, enhancing the park's capacity to absorb rainwater and mitigate flooding, and improving safety and visibility to create a more enjoyable space for all. We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication and generosity of all who have made this possible. We are thankful to have such incredible support to make the Mulberry Park Food Forest a reality. A special thanks to SC Forestry Commission, City of Charleston, the Ardmore Neighborhood association, Trident United Way, Healthy People Healthy Carolinas, and Bank of America.
What a perfect afternoon for a ribbon-cutting with the Charleston Parks Conservancy to unveil the Mulberry Park Food Forest, the first of its kind in #SouthCarolina! The #FoodForest is designed to be a sustainable and inclusive food source for the entire community through bearing fresh fruits, nuts, and berries in this fruitful orchard. It is strategically located in a part of West Ashley that could otherwise be considered a food desert and it has the ability to provide fresh produce to families that may need a little extra help. So proud of the vision of Darlene Heater and her team at #CPC and I’m honored to play a tiny part as a board member. Thank you to Trident United Way and City of Charleston for being incredible community partners! It’s all happening here in #Charleston!

We have some exciting and urgent news about our Colonial Lake Revitalization! 🌿 Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have already raised over $25,000 of our $125,000 goal in just one month! We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to the two-year revitalization of Colonial Lake to combat flooding, restore biodiversity, and enhance the park. 🦋 We have an extraordinary opportunity to double your impact. Cindy and Ben Lenhardt, historic district residents, renowned philanthropists, and passionate advocates for our mission, have generously pledged to match every donation up to $50,000. To unlock their full match, we must raise an additional $25,000 by August 1, 2024. Time is of the essence. Thanks to this generous match, the community's $25,000 contribution by August 1 will take us $50,000 closer to an even more beautiful Colonial Lake.
