📣 As CFLeads continues to grow, we're excited to welcome three new staff members to the team to help advance the work of the community foundation field! Learn more about our new team members below 👇 ✨ Sarah Aguirre Origer, Director of Partnerships and Innovation Beginning in January 2025, Sarah will serve as the Director of Partnerships and Innovation at CFLeads. Sarah comes to the organization from the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (IPA), where she was the Director of GIFT Programming and Technical Services. Before joining IPA, she served the Northern Indiana Community Foundation (NICF) for nearly a decade. Sarah has a passion for place-based philanthropy with a particular interest in the intersection of community development, civic engagement, impact investing, and advocacy. As the Director of Partnerships and Innovation, Sarah will advance CFLeads' mission by forging strategic partnerships, driving innovation, and amplifying our impact nationwide. ✨ Kyumon Murrell, Director of Community Leadership Initiatives Kyumon will also join the CFLeads team in January 2025 and will serve as Director of Community Leadership Initiatives. Kyumon is an experienced philanthropic professional with a strong background in managing and advising community and corporate foundations on strategic development, program coordination, and donor education opportunities. Most recently, Kyumon served as Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives at ABFE. A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, and spent most of his time as Trainer and Advisor of Philanthropic Advising Services (PAS) leading services and donor education opportunities dedicated to operationalizing racial equity. As Director of Community Leadership Initiatives, Kyumon will develop approaches and frameworks for advancing community foundation leadership and learning, while connecting lessons from programmatic work for ongoing impact. ✨ Makenna Brandt, Program Coordinator Makenna joined the CFLeads team in November 2024 as the Program Coordinator. Makenna has over six years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including immigration advocacy, services for people experiencing homelessness, gender-based violence crisis response, and infant and early childhood mental health. Her background includes program development and management, volunteer and advocate training, and research and curriculum development. Makenna is passionate about social justice, forging connections, and fostering radical inclusion, particularly in the South, where she has lived and worked her entire life. As the Program Coordinator, Makenna supports a range of projects and initiatives, ensuring participants have their best possible experience with CFLeads. 🎉 Please join us in welcoming Sarah, Kyumon, and Makenna. Last week, CFLeads President & CEO, Mary L. Thomas attended the Our Common Purpose Champions Convening, hosted by the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in Cambridge, MA! Leaders from across the nation gathered to discuss philanthropic support for democracy, reflected on how the 2024 election results will impact their work, and discussed innovation and evidence-based policymaking at the federal, state, and local level.
