Today, CenterPoint Energy crews responded to an incident in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Gulfport Fire Department notified the company that a third party was working on downstream natural gas lines in the property prior to an ignition. The third party was conducting work unrelated to CenterPoint’s operations. CenterPoint crews coordinated with first responders to secure the area and will continue to work closely with the Gulfport Fire Department, City of Gulfport, Harrison County and other agencies as the investigation of this incident continues. Our thoughts are with all those who were impacted by this incident. As a reminder, if you smell natural gas, leave immediately on foot. Once you are safely away from the area, report the possible natural gas leak to 911 and to CenterPoint at 888-876-5786.
